The joke went over Roland's head, as most jokes did. Someone might have said his sense of humor got shot off during the war. They'd be surprised to know that Roland never really had a sense of humor, or at least, not very much of one. His mind was like his father's: cold.
It wasn't the first time someone had asked him that question. Roland never explained, he didn't have to. "What's a flatpicker?" he asked, watching the guy's fingers move along the strings and frets.
