It wasn’t that Tonks was nervous about her fiance and her cousin meeting, she was positive Sirius would love Mac but she did have butterflies in her tummy. She was putting it all down to excitement, yes, that must be it. She was excited for them to meet.

Unconsciously twirling her engagement ring around her finger, she lent against Mac as they waited for Sirius to arrive.

Mac hugged her and smiled. “I am looking forward to meeting him.” Mac murmured softly, a low rumble of sound as he waited with her.

Sirius knocked on the door and took a step back, exhaling a deep breath of air. He still couldn’t believe Tonks was engaged, but at least he was finally going to get a chance to meet the mystery guy. Either way, it was pretty obvious that she was smitten with the guy and Tonks was a pretty good judge of character. So this Mac person couldn’t be that bad. And so long as he treated her well and made her happy, that’s what was important to Sirius.

When the knock on the door came she looked up at Mac with a smile before answering the door, “Hey Sirius” she greeted him, “Come on in.”

Mac smiled as he moved to greet the man. " Hello. Welcome to the house. " He extended his hand to the man, curious.

Sirius smiled and shook the offered hand, then winked at his little cousin. “So I’m guessing you’re the mystery boyfriend that she kept telling me about, but wouldn’t let me meet?” he joked. “It’s nice to finally meet you... Mac, right?”

"Its not that I wouldn't let you meet him at all" she protested sticking her tongue out at him, in a very mature way.

“I am, yes.” He laughed.. “Mac is what everyone calls me, Sirius. Good to meet you, too.” He chuckled at the interplay. “This house is open to you, always.” It was a simply stated truth, and meant to be simple. But true and deep at the same time.

“Same with mine, once I finish getting everything set up. I’m still sort of living out of boxes because I’ve been taking my sweet time in actually getting everything unpacked. Nymphie helped a little, but there’s still a lot to do.” And yes, he had intentionally used her much hated nickname in revenge for her sticking out her tongue. Sirius just smiled sweetly over at his little cousin and waited for her to yell at him.

Anything Tonks was going to say flew out of her head when Sirius used her nickname and she automatically reached out to whack him on the arm, giving him a glare as she warned him, “Stop calling me that” she didn’t mind so much as it was just in front of Mac but if she let him get away with it there was always the chance that he’d do it in front of others and she’d be mortified.

Mac shook a finger sat Sirius. “Be nice.” It was a low rumble of disapproval, even if he was smiling. “And if you need any help unpacking, let me know. I reckon I could help some.”

Sirius just laughed and rubbed his arm where she’d whacked him. “I am being nice. And I only called her that because she stuck her tongue out at me like a 5 year old.” He grinned and his cousin, completely ignoring the Mac’s warning. “Don’t mind us... we do these kinds of things, Mac.”

“You were being mean before that” she told him with a grin, “But yes we do. He loves teasing me” she told Mac cheekily.

Mac chuckled. “Sounds like true siblings to me. AJ and I are the same. “ If about different things. He liked this man who seemed to put Tonks in such a good mood.

“I was not being mean to you!” Sirius protested. “Who’s AJ?” he asked. From Mac’s comment Sirius was guessing it was a sibling. “Tonks isn’t my sibling... just my younger cousin. She’s only a little older than my godson actually. As for my real brother... well... we don’t exactly see eye to eye on stuff.”

“AJ is the reason I met Mac, she’s my roommate and she’s getting married this month” Tonks informed Sirius. “Your favorite younger cousin” she corrected cheekily, being an only child Sirius was the closest thing she had to a brother and she was pretty lucky for that in her opinion.

“You two act like sisters and brothers should, i reckon.” Mac nodded. “And AJ is my little sister, the older of two.” He smiled at Tonks, eyes dancing, and grinning wider as she spoke of their lives.

“Tonks swept me off of my feet.”

“Well, she does a lot of gushing about you whenever we’re talking or visiting each other.” Sirius had to admit, it was pretty clear that this guy was just as smitten as Tonks was. “So have you two settled on a date or anything yet? Or still in the planning stages? And congratulations to your sister.”

Tonks smiled at Sirius' words, she did gush about Mac quite a lot but it was definitely a good thing. "We are thinking late summer or early fall, when the trees are starting to change.”

“It’s a pretty time, and we have this orchard to use, so why not use it?” Big Mac nodded, chuckling. He had plenty of space, and an extra house, even, so why not?

“So long as I know what date I need to be available, that works.” He smiled at the two of them and said, “Do I get the grand tour now?”

Tonks nodded, "We'll work out the date soon" she smiled before grinning and taking his arm, "of course" she said, knowing Mac’s house almost as well as her own.

Mac nodded. “Tonks is the better guide. She shows things off with a relish.” He smiled as he nodded to Sirius. “And we wouldn’t think of having it without you.”

“You’d better not!” he replied with a laugh. “Especially since I’m the one who’s going to be walking her down the aisle and giving her away to you.”

Tonks beamed at that, she’d been so worried about asking him to give her away but all of her concerns had been put to rest when he’d said yes without hesitation. “Come on” she said, “Official tour starts here” before proceeding to lead him around the house.

Mac trooped along behind them, and smiled, adding in some words here and there, but mostly content to watch Tonks with warm eyes.

Sirius grinned and linked arms with her, happily being dragged around by Tonks as she showed off the place. He glanced over his shoulder at Mac a couple of times and smiled, clearly noting the look in the big guy’s eyes. “You know, it’ll be nice to have another guy in the family who’s not crazy.” Not that Regulus was crazy, but Sirius was convinced his little brother had some issues still because of their upbringing.

Tonks grinned, "You feeling a little lonely on the sane side?" she teased, happy that Sirius seemed to like Mac.

Mac grinned. “Used to wrestle with my crazy cousins. If you need help against the crazy, let me know.” He liked the man, who seemed full of good cheer, warmth, and friendliness.

“Who ever said that I was sane?” Sirius replied with a smirk. “I’m just not completely crazy like some of our relatives.... you know, the crazy in a bad way ones? And Mac, I might just take you up on that. I’d get a kick out of watching you wrestling with someone like Bellatrix!”

“Comparatively sane then” Tonks amended, before her smile dimmed, “Nobody should go near that woman. She’s not just crazy, she’s dangerous” She remembered the day Bellatrix had cornered her and was thankful the woman wasn’t as close to the edge as she’d heard she was now. Who knows what she could have done.

Mac nodded. “I’ll be there. Crazy is as crazy does, they say, but sometimes, all you need is to remember that nature herself has tricks to protect you. And sometimes, you need a big ol’ stick, ready to hit somethin’.”

Sirius grinned and nodded as he listened to Mac. The man might come across and big and a little simple, but he seemed like a class act. “If you ever do meet her? Hit her all you want.”

Tonks nodded, “She needs it” she agreed easily slipping her arm around Mac and leaning into him. She was glad her favorite people seemed to be getting along well.

Mac smiled to both of them, “Now, how about I pull out some of the mulled wine we have waiting and you two can tell me more about your misbegotten youths?”

“Mulled wine?” Sirius paused in midstep and arched an eyebrow, breaking into a grin at the suggestion. “Sounds like a plan to me, big guy.”
