Zelda had an apology to give, and she wanted to make sure that it stuck. Sure, Jon could say that everything was fine, but she didn’t quite believe it. Jon was one of those guys on set that she felt like she could become friends with. Perhaps that’s why she was so... different around him and Robb. She was so desperate to fit in around the set that she’d figured out how desperate she was, so she was trying to not look desperate. It made things wonky.
Anyway, she decided she wanted to find him something nice. Maybe for his trailer? And there was this shop she’d heard about that sold Antiques. So she went there on her morning off. Sunday morning. If she found something she liked, she could pick it up and deliver it in the afternoon.
Gold kept fairly short hours on Sunday -- it was sort of like his day off in a way. 10am to 2pm, no more, sometimes less. He was behind the counter, reading the Sunday paper and sipping at a large cup of takeaway coffee when she walked in.
Immediately, Robert Gold rose an eyebrow. “Miss Hyrule,” he greeted, with a touch of amused interest. Of course he knew of her -- who didn’t? “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“I have an apology to make,” Zelda explained, giving him a smile. She’d decided to forego greetings and salutations today. “And I’m hoping to find something nice as a present to go along with it.” She already had a bottle of good spirits, but something else would be nice to add on.
“Can I take a look around?”
“It is a shop,” Gold said simply, and gave a little gesture of his hand as if to tell her to go for it. Rich or otherwise, Gold tended to treat everyone about the same -- particularly if they were in his store. “Do let me know if you need help.”
“Sure.” Zelda pulled the sunglasses up off of her eyes and into her hair. She was still smiling as she stepped further into the shop and glanced around. “Thank you, I definitely will.” She was pretty much sweet as candy. She took a long, slow lap around the shop and inspected pretty much everything, but she stopped when she came to a beautiful, crystal bar set. “This is magnificent.” She said, reaching up to run her finger along the crystal.
“It is,” Gold agreed, because he was inclined to do that about things in his own shop. He named a price -- admittedly, kind of a high one, but it wasn’t as if he didn’t know that this little heiress didn’t have money. No one could have blamed him.
What did Zelda know about money? She always had it when she needed it. The price seemed fair. She had no idea the true value of money, anyway. “That’s lovely. I’ll take it.” She said, turning to move to the register to pay. “I’m hoping to wrap it up and take it with me now--I’ve got someone to surprise.” It was an apology and a surprise wrapped into one.
“Good thing, then,” Gold said, terribly amused by this girl, “That I have a few nice boxes.” He wrapped it up, and took her payment with the skills of a man who clearly knew how to make a smooth transaction. “I’m sure your apology will be seen as well intentioned,” he informed her pleasantly. “Do come back again.”
Zelda was beaming by the end of the transaction. She was going to recommend this place to her friends, for sure. “Thank you, I absolutely will.” With her box in hand, she headed out of the shop to go make her surprise/apology delivery.
