Phone call to Cora Mallory
Nate wanted to check in on Cora, and also invite her over again. So he dialed her up and settled back to finish some homework from work.

Cora beat her mother to the phone, and snatched it up when she saw Nate's number. "Hi, Nate!"

"Awesome! I can't wait to see it! Just one more week!" Nate grinned as he sat back, bouncy even in his seat.

"I'm doing great!" He felt a lot better after last week. "I was wondering, if, Saturday night, you wanted to, and your mom would be okay with, coming over to have a sleepover after the recital? We can hang out and then crash when the tired hits you. Also, you and your family are invited to a cookout next Sunday, noonish, for alllll the food and socialization." Nate grinned.

"It's a cologne..." She wracked her brain for a minute, and then told him the name of the cologne; giggling as she felt Nate's mental touch. "He never has a shirt on."

He wrote it down. "Cool." Then he laughed. "I bet that makes Neena happy."

He grinned as he thought good thoughts of chocolate and marshmallows at Cora.

"Whatcha up to tonight?"

Corazon licked her lips, almost tasting cocoa. This was kind of fun! She thought back at him about peanut butter cups.

He mmmed and grinned, thinking of cinnamon, and mint tea. Then he grinned wider.

"Video games, and then exercise, probably. Still training my new body."

She smiled, and thought about warm, chewy, molasses cookies--fresh from the oven before they got crisp and ginger-snappy.

He groaned at how good that felt and then imagined similar ones, chocolate chip Tollhouse cookies, and brownies, both with the taste of milk washing them down.

"I am. I like it. It's a nice body."

Cora wondered, fleetingly, if imaginary sweets could spoil their dinner for real. But she felt so warm and cozy, she didn't want that feeling to go away. She thought of chocolate pudding, the kind her mom made from scratch, thick and rich and poured still-warm over moist chocolate cake. And of licking the spoon.

"It's yours," she said, "There's just...more of you to hug."

He thought of chocolate milk, crisp and smooth, and of warm blankets and cool summer nights, with movies and family. And Cora.

"Well, I'm glad you think so. I do need my Cora hugs regularly."

Pillow forts, and shakes, and a friend who would always have her back no matter what.

She braced the phone against her ear and wrapped her arms around herself, and hugged.

He sighed at the feel of that and nodded. He felt warm and loved. Damn. She was the best. He did the same, hugging himself tight and sending it through. "For you. You give the best hugs." He smiled softly.

Harry called in the background for Cora and Nate chuckled. "I guess that's my cue. Talk to you later, Cora."
