When I dreamed of our plan to save some of those who were the sole supporters of women or children, Cosette's father provided us with another National Guard uniform, so that we were able to save five instead of four. He looked a bit older there, but age did take a greater toll in that era.

Did he? I wonder what he knows of our barricade, if anything. We should find some way to ask him, delicately, about that. It would be interesting to get a fuller picture. If he did that, then he likely expected to die with us. Courf mentioned a dream about him that I can only imagine was this one. But bringing that up delicately is another story...

It is a delicate matter, yes. It is not the sort of thing one wants to spring on someone if they have not yet begun to dream. And the condition of life in 1830s Paris is not always easy to find a way of slipping into casual conversation.

Extrapolating from what I know of then and what I know of now, it is possible that he was there to check on Marius. Perhaps he wished to find a way to save him, as unlikely as such way actually existing is.

Exactly that. I mean, God. I was skeptical enough about all of this before it started. And for a lot of the initial bits if not.

Do you suppose? From his fawning over Cosette? That...does make sense. And it would be good if SOMEONE ended up not dead or captured.

It's a lot to take in.

It's possible. If Marius were involved with Cosette there as well, and her father found out about it, I expect he would not be the sort of man to stand by while someone his daughter cared about died.

Admittedly, I have no idea how he would have found out that Marius was at the barricade.

That's true. I mean... I doubt that Marius would go out and tell either Cosette or Cosette's Dad that he was going to fight at a barricade. I mean..no one, even 1830's Marius is that idiotic.
