Spock..Spock doesn't look all that happy. He doesn't look pissed but you can feel it oozing off of him. There should be steam coming out of his pointy ears, but there isn'tI'm a little
He says something like "we are traveling at war speed, how did you manage to beam aboard this ship?"
I tell him that he's the genius, and he should figure it out. He orders me to answer the question. Apparently he's acting captain. I ignore the order, then decide that taunting him is a good idea. "That doesn't frustrate you, does it? My lack of cooperation? That doesn't make you angry.."
I think I'm trying to get a rise out of him. I have the feeling this is Very Important (TM). Like, life or death important. Spock ignores me and askes of Scotty is a member of Starfleet. Scotty says yes and asks for a towel.
Spock orders him to explain how we were able to beam onto a ship at warp, under penalty of court marshel. Are we all in the navy or something? Anyway, I tell Scotty not to answer Spock and Scotty chooses not to take sides. Then...well it gets weird.
"Now, what is it with you, Spock? Hm? Your planet was just destroyed, your mother murdered, and you're not even upset!"
"If you are presuming that these experiences in any way impede my ability to command this ship, you are mistaken."
There's a callback to that other dream. The one where I'm in front of the principle's office.
"And yet you were the one who said fear was necessary for command. I mean, did you see his ship? Did you see what he did?"
I have no idea who "he" is only he's very bad and presumably blew up a planet. Death Star? Are we fighting Darth Vader?
Spock again, "Yes, of course I did."
I don't let up, "So are you afraid or aren't you?"
He still doesn't take the bait, "I will not allow you to lecture me about the merits of emotion."
I get up in his face, "Then why don't you stop me?"
Spock doesn't like that! "Step away from me, Mister Kirk."
This next part is a little..well its a low dig and I feel terrible about it "What is it like not to feel anger... or heartbreak...or the need to stop at nothing to avenge the death of the woman who gave birth to you?"
Then I discover the rage button, "You feel NOTHING! It must not even COMPUTE for you! You NEVER loved her!"
Spock, you're really good at a beat down, but I wasn't really bothering to fight back. Someone else with pointy ears shouts for you to stop, and you do. You tell Bones you're emotions are compromised and you're relieving your command. Bones gripes, and Sulu reveals some guy named Pike made me next in line for command.
We all hope we know what I'm doing, and I order us into some kind of pursuit course. For a suicide mission. Cheery!
"Attention crew of the Enterprise, this is James Kirk. Mr. Spock has resigned commission and advanced me to acting captain. I know you are all expecting to regroup with the fleet, but I'm ordering a pursuit course of the enemy ship to Earth. I want all departments at battle stations and ready in ten minutes. Either we're going down... or they are. Kirk out."
There's one more thing. That thing Gaila drew.
I found this metal model in a car that mysteriously appeared registered in my name and address.
