Ruby had asked a similar question (among many others) earlier that morning. Qrow hadn’t known what to tell her then, and he didn’t know what tell Yang now, either. She needed more than I don’t know. The trouble was Qrow didn’t know. He was just as lost, confused and hurt as his nieces.
There was a bit of truth to what Oz had said about Lionheart not being the first to betray him or his cause, but Qrow didn’t have the energy or desire to try to defend the other man’s actions. Even considering it made his vision turn a shade of red.
“I wish I could answer that,” he said. He leaned back in his chair with an audible sigh. “Unfortunately, the only one who can is Ozpin and he’s…well he ain’t here.” He tried to keep his tone even, but he couldn’t hide the seething bitterness that lay just beneath.
