Carolina frowned uncomfortably at the voicemail. It might not have been the most mature move to let Wash's call go to voicemail in the first place, but the Dream she'd had the night before made thinking about her brother a bit...awkward. She debated ignoring it entirely; if they never talked about it, then they wouldn't have to address the elephant in the room.
Moments turned into minutes as she continued to cradle the phone in her lap. Carolina bit her lip in anxious frustration. Tempting as it was to call in sick, she had too much paperwork to fill out and file for the latest string of information about the mysterious portal. Besides, if she ignored it for too long, it was likely that Wash would corner her in person instead of over the phone, and that was likely to be a thousand times more awkward. That's if the Dreams didn't drop another bombshell in the meantime.
With a resigned sigh and a deep breath to steel herself, Carolina hit the button to call her brother back. Maybe she'd be lucky and he would be the one who wouldn't answer this time.
