Dear Merrill,
I am writing this while sitting on my patio and looking out over the ocean, which is calm today, and more blue than green in color. The pool to my right is also quiet, but less enjoyably so, without us splashing about. We should rectify this as soon as possible.
I am glad to hear that Bethany is doing well, but I am more happy to hear that this nightmare seems to have met its daybreak. I know I've put up the slightest bit of a fuss at times. However, I don't want you to get the wrong idea, RE: my desire to keep you safe. I have nothing but admiration for what you were willing to do for your friends; without a second thought, I should add. Such qualities are so rare, and they make you all the more precious to me. Therefore, my reservations should be even more understandable, though probably no less selfish. Perhaps we can talk about my dreams next time we see each other, and you will better understand what I mean.
I hope you'll forgive me for not putting on lipstick and leaving a print for you. You'll just have to believe me when I say I gave this letter a kiss before sealing it.
I'd rather be giving one to you.
Maybe during a picnic by the ocean...
Love, Frodo
PS - No, but I'm somewhat fearful of large dogs...
