I know these dreams are showing us terrible things and I know you must feel like you've lost control and you're helpless to act but the thing I'm most certain of is that you're the kind of person to fight with her very last breath.

So remember. The minute you think of giving up, think of the reason why you held on so long.

Lightning was startled to find this note pinned to her favorite jacket. They always had a hard time communicating, and even texts tended to be all business.

The words written on the paper, then, were the kind of words they hardly ever said to each other.

She carefully folded the note and put it away in her top drawer. Then she went to find her sister. There were no words that Lightning knew how to say in response, but she hoped the way she hugged her was enough to say everything.
