Miss Hamilton,
I'm hastily constructing and testing a single hand-held device which may help track the spirits responsible for the possession. It may not last long or be entirely stable, since I am going on memory from what I've dreamed about and I'm forced to adapt it to this world's various energy scales. Adjustments are proving difficult and it will take overnight to fine tune it. It should help you track any concentrated spirit energy 'cold spots' when complete. There are a few things to bear in mind:
You will need to find a way of moving around Orange County to get a reading, because it will only pick up what's in a twenty-to-twenty-five mile range of your location. Orange County is 789.40 square miles of land, so you will have to constantly be on the move. I would suggest a designated and insane driver, not afraid to go off-road if need be.
You can adjust it for readings further out of that range, but the signal will weaken and you will run the risk of entirely losing the signal, if not the entire device. The batteries are questionably constructed overseas and prone to overheating and exploding, so please use that option, sparingly.
Do not hold the device anywhere near your face.
I don't even recommend holding it, but that can't be helped.
The device will also emit a cuckoo clock sound and show a blinking blue Pacman ghost icon on the city street maps, when it has locked onto a target.
The street maps are provided by some of the more common GPS systems used in automobiles. You will have to pay for any additional street updates if it demands it and refuses to work correctly any longer. I can't do a remote update for the device from my location. It's your responsibility. Use paypal or whatever it is that people use to pay for things remotely, but don't call me, complaining about it. I'll hang up and go back to my experiments.
It will be housed in an attractive smartphone case, which depicts chibi ghosts and devils stabbing at one another's faces with tiny cartoon butcher knives. The case is free of charge. It is also not heat-proof. The SRDI is not responsible for it melting and causing damage to your person or belongings.
No, it is not also a smartphone. It only detects spirit energy.
That should cover the basic owner's manual. I should have the prototype ready tomorrow morning at 8:00am for you to pick up at the front desk: [SRDI address]
Please provide your feedback about the product, after having field tested it: [here is the phone number for a SRDI survey hotline, including plinky plunky cartoon music in the background]
