Title: Small Venues Author: Merry Theme: General Prompt Word: money
Merton and the band hung around after the crowd cleared out of the bar. Some of the people milled around to try getting autographs. Merton smiled and waved at lots of the people, mostly young women and men, and he signed some pictures and bar napkins. It was good, spending time with fans, and hanging out with the band. However, they did have some business with the establishment's owner after the last of the fans left, not that there was any rush. There were still a few people hanging about.
Merton edged past the last few fans, listening to them as he went. Hearing things like, "Gosh, did you hear them? They're so good." and "Why can't they play here more often?" made Merton feel really, really good about what they were doing. He was glad they played small venues, despite being fairly large names. Still, there was one thing nagging him in the back of his mind about tonight. Finally, past the straggling fans, Merton approached the owner.
"I suppose," the owner said, "you want paying for tonight's show."
Merton nodded, looking the man in the eye. "If it's not too much trouble, last night's show, too."
