Title: Rebellion (Lies)
Author Frost
Theme Percy Weasley
Prompt Word Music
Percy had never quite understood music. He tried to, of course, when he was younger. Bill and Charlie listened to it loudly. And it was hard and fast, and Percy found that more often than not, it gave him a headache and made him flee the house so that he could read outside in peace.
When he got a little older, he tried again. The classics, they had been called. Beethoven and Mozart, among others. This was what he should have liked because it was what he imagined suited him best. Fred and George called it boring, and it seemed to just put Ronald to sleep. Percy feigned indignance, but decided to himself that he, too, was bored by it. It was intricate in it's own way, did not call much attention to itself in the way that Percy would have liked it to.
After that he gave up. He had other things to worry about. Helping his mother with raising his younger siblings, and then school. And work. Lots of work.
It wasn't until he was nearly thirty that he heard something on some muggle radio station that made him stop and just take a few minutes to listen. It wasn't rock, and it wasn't classics. Maybe something in-between. He didn't know enough to define it in terms of other music. But he found it uplifting and heavy at the same time. Joyous, with an undertone of something that also knew sadness.
He could understand that. Even if he couldn't really put it into words.
But the song was enough -- maybe he didn't really need to.
