Using a piece of paper found in the desk drawers, Elspeth had jotted down names as they were given. Once complete, she settled a little weight over the page's corner and looked around. She had an idea. It was a simple one, really, but no one had suggested it just yet. Her foot tapped impatiently beneath the desk, her pale fingers clutching her bag. After a moment, she couldn't contain herself any longer and decided to speak up. Surely the imprudent nature of a directive female could be forgiven when time was of the essence.
"It's growing dark outside," she said, using a winning voice she was not accustomed to hearing from herself. She slowed the rhythm of her speech and lowered her volume. "How about we split up into smaller groups, before the light is gone, to get some of it accomplished? Perhaps... some could look for weaknesses in the house... Places through which we might escape. And some could search for clues about who lived here. Others might see if there is food, and gather up all the furniture coverings to use as blankets. It may grow cold tonight. There could be a room for ladies and another for men. What do you think?"
