"Why," Marguerite said primly, making sure to pointedly ignore Mr. Abbott's glance, "I am afraid I am unacquainted with anyone here. I had the misfortune of coming across this house on my way back to my own humble dwelling. It seems I shall not be home in time to do my stitching."
Marguerite sighed. She had assumed the accent of an English lady, and played the part without hesitation. If anything, at least she'd get an opportunity to test her acting skills, if she ever made it out of here.
"I must confess, I am positively terrified!" She cupped a hand over her cheek and looked worried.
