Sophia saw the tongue gesture and blinked slightly. She was probably jumping at shadows. But this wasn't a place to worry. Her voice turned ever so slightly chilly. "I have enough money." Just. Not that it wouldn't be welcome, but she also had her pride. "And I am not for sale."
She then continued more gently. "Now I finish work in about an hour, and would be delighted to spend some time with you after that. But the more you are in my way while I am still working, the less true that will become. That still leaves us with about four hours of the ball. And after, who knows?" There was a hint of promise in her tone there. She'd needed to deal with rowdy drunks before, but it confused her that this woman showed no other signs of being drunk. Which was one reason she was going to come back - to try to work out what the hell was going on here.
