This was and extremely volatile situation that was probably already teetering on the prespice of exploding even before everyone involved had gathered. Rule number one: Never put your pregnant and hormonal spouse in the same room with your secretary who's been smitten with you since day one. Pepper Potts was the epitome of professionalism, though, and she wasn't likely to say anything that'd give Remy a cause to worry or flip out. But hormones and a sting of jealousy over one man floated in the air. Tony Stark was probably about to regret this, but he'd missed Pepper just as much as he missed Rhodey. He was looking forward to seeing Pepper, to show her that this place had been the best thing to ever happen to him.

Pepper had gotten on a plane, flew out to New York before calling Tony and getting him to send over a car for her, even if she had the money to drive herself. Ah well. She was very nervous, and only somewhat excited. This place was definitely weird and she felt kind of like she was walking into some weird trap where there was going to be a shotgun and possibly a cage somewhere in her future.

When they got there, she went up to the door and rang the doorbell.

Remy had been inside, not amused in the slightest by all of this. And she didn't want to meet Pepper Potts. Who the hell nicknamed themselves Pepper when their last name was Potts for gods sake? Ugh. When the doorbell rang, she went to get it, opening it up and glared at the redhead on the other side. She didn't say anything, just moved away from the door to let her inside.

Tony had decided to pass the time down in the lab until Jarvis alerted him that Pepper had arrived. He'd just come up in the elevator when the doorbell rang, his smile growing even wider as he saw the familiar red head step inside of the house. Then he saw the expression on Remy's face. Great. This was going to suck.

He sidled up next to Remy and put his arm around her, brushed his lips against her forehead, trying to reassure her that this wasn't as bad of an idea as she was making it out to be. Tony just looked at Pepper for a minute before he embraced her. "It's good to see you, Pepper."

Pepper tried to avoid eye contact with the woman who looked like she was going to kill her and instead focused on her boss. "Hello, sir.." she hugged him back gently, trying not to make it seem too touchy. She didn't want to get killed after all. "It's good to see you too sir.." she looked around slightly. "The.. mansion looks.. the same yet different.."

Remy had looked over at Tony and then at Pepper and almost frowned. Sigh. Yeah this was going to suck. She wanted to just excuse herself and go lie down. But that would be rude. And she wasn't going to say hello.

Tony wouldn't have let Remy hurt Pepper, not that he thought she'd do it, but these were the two most important women in his life, and he wanted one around just as much as the other. He would never admit it to Remy, but he'd been wishing everyday that she'd show up or Rhodey. As independent as he was, he just had a hole without his best friends. Tony wanted them there to share in the fact he was in a place where his life just couldn't get any better.

"Few modifications here and there, but it's home all over again," he said as they parted. "Pepper Potts, this is my wife, Remy. She's a doctor, something I could have always benefited to have around back then." He took a step back, angling himself more towards Remy as he placed his hand on the small of her back. "In a few minutes, I'll introduce you to my daughter, Sophie."

Pepper gave a small nod at Remy, "Nice to meet you.." to which Remy just nodded her head a bit still not saying anything. It wasn't that she didn't want Tony to be happy or anything, but it was very complicated, and it was more then just being jealous and pregnant. And she knew that he was trying to get her to feel better, but it felt too much like her weaseling in.

"Yep.. you too.." she finally managed to Pepper. Oh how she wanted to flee for her life. Pepper just kind of smiled, figuring that Remy wanted to go. "Don't feel the need to stay on my behalf if you're busy Dr.. Stark.. ma'am."

Maybe it was a better idea for Remy to go lie down. He needed to show Pepper around, reacquaint himself with her, and let her meet Sophie. "Just wait here, Pepper, and I'll go get Sophie." He turned to Remy and let his hand slide into hers. "Come on, honey, we'll go upstairs and get her, and you can lie down." She'd had enough stress on her for the last few days, and he seriously worried about her and the baby.

The two of them went upstairs together and were probably gone for a little while, just because Tony fussed over Remy and insisted on tucking her in before he'd go back downstairs. "Tell Jarvis to let me know if you need anything. I'm just going to be downstairs with Sophie." He smiled softly, and no matter what her fears might have been about Pepper, she should know by the look in his eyes he was far too much in love with her to do anything stupid.

When he came back down, he had Sophie in his arms, the little girl's arms wrapped tightly around his neck. She looked a little sleepy, but it was past her bedtime, and she was a Daddy's girl, definitely not going to sleep unless he'd come in and read her a story or two and done any number of requests he couldn't say no to. "This is Sophie Stark," he presented her to Pepper, the girl waving her hand casually at her while sucking on her other thumb.

Remy nodded a bit, and though she felt like being annoyed at being babied it was probably for the best. She followed Tony upstairs to the bedroom and laid down. She even let him tuck her in. "I will.. and.. I'm sorry.. about being difficult. I'll try.. I just.." she shrugged a little. Then she curled up on her side and tried to lie down.

Pepper looked around while she waited, seeing that it didn't look too different then what she was used to, but she had her own place as big as this one, which was kind of amusing. When Tony brought Sophie back down, she looked up and smiled. "Oh she's so pretty.. gorgeous.. hi Sophie.. I'm Pepper.." she gave the little girl a wave. "She looks like you.."

Tony gave Pepper that little smirk that was always reserved for her when he was amused with anything she'd said. "She's definitely a Daddy's girl. Smart, too. Stark genius genes continue on," and he hoisted Sophie higher on his hip. BY now, she'd woken up a little more, intrigued at the red haired woman, then a look of recognition passed over her face. She waved her arms out for Pepper, like she wanted her to take her in her arms.

"She must remember you from the time period she's come from. She wants you to hold her," and he looked down at Sophie. "Want Aunt Pepper to hold you for a minute?"

"Pepper! Pepper!" and she waved her chubby arms even more.

"I'm quite sure she does sir," Pepper answered. Because well, she wasn't going to argue with him that he was just biased because she was his kid. All parents thought that way. If she was upset at the lack of having a kid of her own, it didn't seem to pass by her features. "Wait what?" she looked at the both of them a little confused.

"Her.. time period she remembers me?" see, no one filled Pepper in on anything at all. Except oh this was a different universe. Nothing else. So yeah, she was clueless. But still she reached out to take the little girl into her arms. "Aunt Pepper.. right." she was aunt Pepper. Fantastic.

"Pepper, she's two. Two year olds do not draw as well as she does," which Pepper hadn't seen Sophie's drawings but they were very detailed for her age. "Not only do we come from a different universe, but some of us come from alternate timelines. She was two from whatever line she's from and had two older brothers. Remy's pregnant with one of them now." Which was a relief. This house could do with a lot more testosterone.

Sophie smiled when Pepper took her and she immediately planted a big kiss on her cheek and hugged her neck tightly.

Pepper kind of stared at him blankly a bit. Different time periods. That was great. Just great. She was shaken out of her stare when Sophie kissed and hugged her. She gave the little girl a small hug back and smoothed out her hair. "Three kids... that will keep you busy sir. Which is good. You need to keep busy.." or else you'll get into trouble, though she didn't say that. She just knew him very well. "Let's hope I don't get put into a timeline where I'm 90.. hm?"

"You'll still be beautiful and driving the boys crazy with your 'hard to get, no nonsense' attitude. No one can send them running like you." Then he imagined a 90 year old Pepper chasing Tony with a suped up wheelchair he'd designed and trying to cane him.

"I stay very busy. I'm getting a chance to do a lot of good here. I've been working on prototypes of my suit, variations really, to help sustain people who are waiting on organ transplants. Between that and taking care of her, I don't have to goof off." It was funny for Tony Stark to portray himself as such a responsible adult after years of blowing off responsibilities for flings or a night of the casinos.

She heh'd slightly at him and just shook her head. "Very funny, sir.." well at least he was keeping busy doing the same thing he'd always been doing. Actually she was kind of glad she didn't have to send flowers or dear john notes to any more of his one night stands, or whatever they were.

"I see.. and I see your.. heart is all better, I'm glad sir.." which she really was, because well he was her friend, even if she called him sir. Not that she'd ever admit to being worried about him.
