Dick doubted they would qualify. Months had passed, they were cohabitating before the marriage, they had been together for a year or so, and they hadn't discovered anything disturbing about the other between now and then.

Well, except for the fact that Dick had been thinking about proposing, but that didn't count for a married couple.
