"I told you-" Her voice was high and she sounded as though she were about to yell at him. Carrie had tried to make it clear that marriage was not her thing. She was too young. She was not ready. It was a stupid institution that she didn't particularly believe in. And still he'd bought a fucking ring. Probably with the intention of springing it on her eventually.

Carrie really didn't like that at all.

But the letter threw her for a loop and for a moment, she calmed down. Carrie didn't sit down, mostly because she wanted to prove that she was angry at him by not listening. "What is this?" She looked at Dick, curious and frowning. And then she looked at the letter. Her eyes widened. She didn't get very far in before: "What?"
