Alec hadn't ever wanted to upset her, make her cry, it was the last thing he wanted to happen, to be honest. It was something that had been weighting on him, he hadn't spoken to anyone about it, and he didn't know why it was coming out now. He kept his forehead leaning against her own, and despite her best efforts, he knew she was crying.
One arm pulled her a little closer and he let himself take in a small breath. "I got out, eventually." He didn't want to make this worse on her, he cared more about protecting her, than anything else. "My leg got caught under a rock in the water, I might have been able to get out of it, but I was normal...I wasn't a transgenic. And I couldn't..I couldn't die either. I was just..stuck, down there in the water, for a week. Then two people pulled me out."
