Who Chris and Toby
What Toby is an alcoholic and Chris wants him to stop. And it has nothing to do with his jealousy that Toby is spending time with somone else. Really.
Where The Beecher/Keller residence
When Wednesday afternoon
Rating R-ish. R-esque? Rated T for wTf?

Chris hadn't been home when Toby got back the day before from his little evening out at the bar. He had made sure Holly was alright-when he had started being concerned for the kid notonly because it would piss of Toby if he wasn't, who knew?-before grabbing the keys to his bike and taking off. He had driven for hours, ending up at some bar himself, drinking and passing out, waking up in a hotel room that someone had taken him to, charged to his credit card while he had been knocked out. He would have been a bit more pissed if he a)didn't have a pounding headache with his hang over and b)wasn't so relieved that the room was the only thing charged on the card, besides the drinks he had from the night before.

Pulling himself together, Chris headed back to Beecher's, his anger still there over the man's actions, his jealousy over Toby wanting to go to a bar 'by himself' (something Chris doubted) rather than have him come out to meet him added to it and now his annoyance at his headache, the sound of the bike making it worse.

It was not until around two o'clock that Chris pulled into the garage at their place-their place being a new thing to him since Holly had said she wanted him to move in, since Beecher had said he wanted him to live there-and trudging into the house, tugging off his coat and throwing his helmet and keys on it before heading for the bathroom for aspirin and a shower.

"Oh yeah, the guy who was trying to cut back after talking to God," Something Chris still didn't believe, "Going to get drinks rather than studying isn't a big deal," He scoffed, shaking his head. He could beat the man, he could hurt him, he could make him scream, but nothing would hurt Toby more than Chris just giving up, he was sure. The man responded to violence with anger. He responded differently to indifference or disappointment.

"Fine, Toby. Do what you want," He said quietly, simple in tone as he turned to walk back to the kitchen, to set to cleaning up the glass he had broken-another thing to add to the show.

"Chris-" He sighed as he watched the man walk away, just shaking his head and dropping back on the couch, putting his head in his hands. Chris was right- he was hurt, and frustrated, and... Chris didn't even seem to care. That probably made it worse. One side of him reminded him that it was Chris' fault, for not believing him about the nightmare. He hadn't done anything wrong, in his point of view.

But Chris seemed to hate him, and... that was worse.

Chris knew how to get out of arguments he knew he wouldn't win, and this was how to do it with Toby. Give the man time to hate himself for what he had said, done, or what have you, and Chris didn't need to do anything.

He waited a good ten minutes, taking time to calm himself down, to control his anger, before he came into the room with a glass of water that he put down on the coffee table in front of the man. "Here. Drink something," He said before moving to put the chair back in place and sitting down on it. As if nothing had happened. As if his jaw wasn't sore from being punched, as if Toby wasn't probably feeling the same thing.

Toby took the drink without comment, sighing as he settled back on the couch. He didn't speak, figuring Chris was setting himself up for... something. So he drank, and waited in uneasy silence.

Chris had been wondering something for a while, since he had watched their show, that he thought bringing up right now would only serve his purpose of making Toby upset, making him see that he couldn't leave chris because Chris was the only one who would love him, even after all the shit he had done to push Chris away. It was a selfish kind of love Chris had sometimes. He had started out here, wanting Toby to be happy, doing anything he could, and now...Now it seemed happy meant away from Chris. And he didn't like that.

"Were you really going to rat me out to the feds, Toby? Back in Oz, back before I died. Where you going to make a deal?"

[info]otherofoz

He visibly stilled once Chris brought up the deal, eyes darting up to glare at Chris. "Don't fucking- No. I- I couldn't. As you saw, I'm sure." The idea that Chris would use that against him pissed him off, but he knew any effort he made to move would be met with violence. So he just slid further back in the couch, and prayed that would be the end of it.

"Because I went and died on you, sure," Chris said casually, as if talking about the weather, "But if I didn't. Would you have done it?" He leaned back in his own chair, as if showing not only was he not interested in violence, but he didn't have any worry of Toby lashing out.

"Would you use me like that, baby?"

"You know I couldn't," It was obvious from his tone he considered it shameful, that Chris had him so fully wrapped around his finger, that he couldn't try for his own freedom, even after everything Chris had done. He was stuck with the man, come hell and high water, and he knew it.

There was a sort of satisfaction in those words, in that tone, and Chris smiled a bit, "Because you love me," He said, matter-of-fact, nodding once. Of course, he wanted the man to confirm that, to agree to it, so he waited, waited for Toby to say he did love him.

Toby glanced up, eyes defiant even as he spoke. "I shouldn't. But I do." He hated how weak, how... weak that sounded, how pathetic it made him feel. But he had to say it, to go through the steps, to make Chris believe him.

Chris didn't let the fact that Toby thought he shouldn't love him ruffle him, didn't let it upset him, because sometimes he thought the same thing. "Good," He said quietly, nodding, "I love you, too, Toby. And I don't want to lose you." To drinking, to another person, or to having to get rid of him due to a betrayal-but Chris didn't need to add that.

"You're not going to lose me, Chris." That was said with more certainty. He knew that, no matter what, the only way Chris was going to get rid of him, was when he died. Whether that way his fault, or simply a bad accident, was entirely up to Chris.

"Hm," Chris almost believed that, and nodded again, looking away from Toby and around at the books. He had to be sure. He had to get rid of whatever Toby at this bar. He had to find out what bar, and so on, but he would do that, and he would get rid of temptation for Toby. Simple as that.

Toby took the noise as a good sign, flopping back to lie on the couch as if willing the moment to pass would be enough to make it so.

Taking a small breath, Chris shifted in his chair, shifted his attitude again and shook his head, "Anyway, I am going to busy the next week or so with shit for the business. I'm taking Holly along on Friday after school for a viewing of a place downtown. Think I'm buying it, anyway, but you know, I said I'd take her," He just wanted Toby to take the topic change, the mood change, and he figured the man was tired enough to do just that. Chris now had to wait. Had to wait for Toby to go back to the bar-he had no doubt he would-to find out who Toby was seeing while there, and to get rid of the temptation. He would help the man that way.

He did take the bait, turning a little bit to Chris and nodding some. "Alright- good. I'm sure she'll have fun." He knew it wasn't that simple, but he was exhausted into compliance.

Chris got up at that, moving to stand over Toby before sitting down on the edge of the couch, running his hand along the man's chest, rubbing it, trying to further calm the man, make him forget Chris' anger-it would play well for him later if Toby wasn't fully suspecting some sort of action. He bent to kiss the man, gently, eyes remaining open as he watched him.

Toby's eyes weren't exactly trusting, but he kissed Chris back anyway, deciding to take what he could get. He wasn't exactly relaxed, but he at least relented to the touch.

Chris opened his mouth and licked at the man's lips, making a soft noise, coaxing the man to just give in, to relax-He wasn't going to hurt him anymore in this exchange. Well, unless, as always, provoked. Chris' moods could turn on a dime.

He did relax slightly more at the noise- he would give Chris the benefit of the doubt, for now. His mouth slid open to suck the man's tongue inside, sighing out his pent-up tension.

With the sigh, Chris smiled and leaned down to press their chests together, hand moving up to Toby's hair. He was fine to take this and make this making out a way of getting the man to trust him, or at least to not think about what Chris might be thinking, might be plotting.

And even though everything in Toby was warning him otherwise, he did finally calm down, letting his arms move around Chris' waist as he relaxed into the kiss. The least he could do was give Chris what he wanted, to hopefully appease him, make him forget about the whole thing.

A wonder, that they both were trying to make the other forget, and it was almost sad in a way. Not that Chris would think that, of course-he'd find it funny that Toby thought he could possibly be distracted so much by his making out (even if Chris thought the same regarding Toby).

Deciding to make this one of the more gentle moments between them, since roughness would only add to Toby's worry, suspicion, and so on, Chris moved carefully to lay himself out over Toby on the couch, resting their hips together as he kept the kiss going.

He made a small face into the kiss as he recognized the ploy, but didn't call attention to it, instead just wrapping his arms more fully around Chris, holding him close. He was somewhat depresesd that it was coming down to this, that they couldn't just talk like a norm-

Hah, them, normal. He actually had to stop himself from laughing at the thought.

Chris just went on kissing the man, stroking fingers through his hair-this was how Chris functioned, how he knew how to keep Toby close. Though he could talk his way out of a lot, he could kiss his way out of more, he figured. This was how they worked.

Pulling away slightly after a moment, Chris licked his lips and stroked his hand against the other man's cheek, "I love you, Toby," He whispered, eyes determined, as if set on the man believing those words even if he knew, he had had confirmed that Toby didn't only believe him but also returned the affection.
