That was much better. Quite happily, she slid into his lap though he was being slightly distracted. "Just didn't want to um... what was I saying? Oh yes, didn't want to distract you. Like you're doing right now."

Not that she minded of course. Far from it. If he wanted to keep doing that, that was fine by her. She was glad he had grown up, even if it had taken a lot for that to happen.

"I know, but we're okay, and that's what matters, right?" She put her arms around his neck and kissed him gently.
