WHO: Commander Shepard & James Vega with special guest star apparances by any Mass Effect characters who want to interrupt!
WHERE: The Mars base where the Aliens are. Ev'body gonna be up in here shooting and shit.
WHAT: I just told you. Shooting and shit.
WARNINGS: Violence and swearing and James losing his pants at some point.

God, Shepard had honestly missed this.

These alien beings weren't even as sturdy as a Husk, but it was shooting and she was good at that. No awkward attempts at flirting with James, no sorting out what the hell form her new life would take on this planet, no. This was Shepard's happy place.

Knowing that Garrus or someone had her six, she charged in and knocked one of the aliens down a convenient air shaft. Thank God those things were literally everywhere on this base.

This'd been a long time in the making. The moment Ash ducked behind cover to reload her sniper rifle, Vega shot out and knocked the offending alien flying a good ten or so feet back, neatly knocking over a few of the incoming reinforcements.

"You okay there, Lola?" He knocked another aside with little effort, thankful these things were less prolific than the Reapers had been. Less messy too, at least so far. "I can come save you if I've gotta."

Try as she might, Ash couldn't help but roll her eyes. Why couldn't they keep the flirting off the battlefield? It was weird enough with Garrus talking in innuendos. Scary innuendos.

"I think I can handle a bunch of creepy crawlies, James," Shepard called back, grabbing one misguided alien and beating it with her fists.

It was conserving ammo. Seriously, it was a tactic. Look it up.

Why was flirting here easier anyway? Habit, she supposed. Most likely Garrus and Kamiko would be just as bad right now. Diving behind some crates, Shepard tried to pick out some of their long range snipers. Those shots were getting too close for comfort.

Of course it was a tactic. A perfectly valid one, considering they only had a limited supply of thermal clips, and considering the conventional arms that they'd been able to source might've been less effective than outright punching the alien bastards.

Less fun in the long run too.

Letting out a distinctly unmanly shriek as Ash gunned down the alien who'd snuck up on him, Vega tried to hit the deck as the tell-tale red laser of a sniper danced over him. "They shoot me in the face, I'm gonna kill Vakarian..."

	"Be careful, Vega!" She only tended to yell that last name if she thought he'd lost his focus. James was a damn good soldier, but he sometimes just took needless risks. Charging at the location the laser dot was originating from, Shepard laid the offending alien flat with a single punch. Seriously, these weren't even Husks. (Reply to this)

Husks at least had the decency to explode nicely. These aliens were weaker and just tended to hit the ground without anything even close to that.

"Sorry, ma'am! I'll behave!" He sprang back to his feet, neatly decking the alien that'd come to try and stop Shepard's advance. Wherever Ash and Garrus and otherShep were, they'd cover them, right?

It probably really helped that the aliens seemed faintly terrible at aiming. Maybe that was his overconfidence talking, but hey, a man had to keep his morale up somehow!

	The problem was even a broken clock was right twice a day. And those snipers just kept cropping up for every one Garrus and Tali took out. Shepard charged a back of them, but there were three on the other side that had a clear shot at the Marine with the Mouth. And at this point, they really wanted to shut him up. (Reply to this)

Whilst Vega just about noticed them, he couldn't move quick enough to dodge when they fired. He wasn't sure where he'd been hit, the adrenaline masking the pain well enough for him to vault over a low wall and deck another alien before he collapsed.

"Shit!" There was blood. Old school weapons sure made a lot of it, didn't they? Wasn't like they had any medi-gel to hand either. "Hey, uh, Commander? I've gotta sit this one out!"

Maybe if he stayed still enough they'd ignore him. He could live in hope.

	"JAMES!" Shepard shouted almost reflexively as she vaulted over the low cover, taking out the cluster that had just shot at him. Unlike the heat sink weapons, these would leave bullets. "We need a medvac, now!" she bellowed towards no one in particularly, heading towards where James was slumped. (Reply to this)
