Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:leonardo da vinci, princess

WHO: Leonardo and Princess (and maybe guest stars?)
WHAT: Meeting again (for the first time.)
WHEN: Today! (I like parenthesis.)
WARNINGS: Of course not, pervs.

Leonardo was still positively reeling from being sent to the future. He certainly had theories of his own regarding the possibility of time travel, but to become an unwilling (although not particularly unhappy) participant in such an endeavor was taking some getting used to.

As was fatherhood.

At the appointed time and place, he stood feeling awkward in the clothing of this time, wondering about this 'daughter' of his. For his alchemy to have worked seemed a miracle, and after finding himself here, miracles seemed a great deal more attainable than before.

Soon a pale girl with long dark hair that pooled over her shoulders came walking down the street. She wore a gaily colored sunddress and flats, her ruby colored eyes scanning the street for a familiar face. And when she saw it, her face broke into a broad grin. She waved at the man she'd always known as her father, adjusting a leather satchel strap on her shoulder. "Papa!"

How was it possible for such a foreign set of words, people and places to feel so utterly correct?

Leonardo put out a hand up greeting as well, striding over to her with a smile that dazzled. Awkwardly, he blushed. "I hardly know what to call you, other than amazing."

She beamed, shaking her head. "I brought my boxself as well, just in case you wanted to see. We work together, yet independently of each other. I'm so glad you're here!" She hugged him impulsively, dropping the English in favor of their beloved Florentine. "Do you have questions about this place? About anything?"

Relieved, Leonardo did the same. He hugged her back, strangely at peace with the action. He never had believed himself to be fatherly; his lack of interest in the mysteries of romance was extreme to the point of despairing of such notions, yet here he was.

"I've been filled in, to a point. I am far more interested in you, really."

"You are?" Her cheeks went pink again, and she clapped her hands to her cheeks. "Oh, darn, I never know what's going to set off that reflex. I wish I did." She smiled and pointed out the coffee shop near them. "Would you like something to drink while we talk?"

He shook his head, pulling out his wallet. "My dear, this shall be on me."

Strange, these pieces of paper were accepted far more readily than the coins in his pockets. He'd learned much in the few hours he'd been here, ever adaptive, ever inquisitive. The world might be a touch odd, but he thought he could pick up remarkably quickly anything important. He was, after all, brilliant.

"Are you sure? I have money myself." She smiled, holding his hand and walking with him. "I've taken notes for you since I acquired my human body." She'd gotten into the habit many hundreds of years ago. It was, essentially her purpose. She grinned up at him.

"Please, humor me."

He couldn't help the rapt fascination that he knew was engraved on his face right now. "Notes? Now I know for a fact I made you." He said it kindly, as if there really had never been doubt.

Laughing, she pulled out a leatherbound notebook. THe notes were written in a hand he'd immediately recognize as his own, and were filled with ruminations on the physical form she'd taken - when to eat, what to eat, sleep, bathing, things like that. She'd cross-referenced everything with anecdotal references and factual references from books and the internet. "Here."

Leonard took the notebook with almost reverence. It was astounding, and he couldn't help the excited muttering under his breath.

"Fascinating. Absolutely fascinating..."

How had he managed such a feat?

She motioned Leonardo to look into the bag. Inside was a mahogany puzzle box, made with interlocking wooden blocks that had rubies set into the top. From the center of the rubies, a panel opened, and a wooden hand emerged, waving. "You remember my older form better, I am guessing? You made it."

Taking the box, Leonardo's eyes turned wistful.

"It was such a long night. I had taken so long on the design, but it was too exciting to wait until morning. Far too eager to see if it... if you worked."

Princess' eyes were misty. "I'm always thankful that you made me. My friend Bill may have helped me get this flesh body, but my thoughts, my original form - I owe you so much. It was always a joy to help with your work." She noted that her box self's hands stayed inside while she was in public view. "I cannot die as long as she stays intact. For that reason, we don't live together."

"Of course," he muttered to himself, his fingers tracing over the box in a distracted way. How had he managed it? He'd always been one to give his ego a rather wide berth (nothing like Ezio, but then again, Ezio earned it) but it seemed even beyond his skill.

He looked up to his daughter, unshed tears glimmering slightly in his eyes. "You are a miracle. I hope you are aware of that."

Shaking her head, she cupped her father's cheek and kissed his forehead. "You created me to be one. Did you know that my angel is in awe of you too? Angels think the world of you, Papa, and yet you're the most humble man in the world." She smiled and hugged him. "I owe you everything."

Humble would never be a word he'd feel accurate in a million years, but who was he to argue with his daughter?

He held her close, marveling as he was sure he'd be doing for years to come. So much wonder in this new world.

"In a few short hours you've already given me much, il mio bambino."

"And now we're going to have coffee that isn't too terribly bitter!" She beamed and took him into the queue, bouncing on the balls of her feet. She loved coffee; it had been the first thing she'd ever gotten well and properly addicted to.

Leonardo couldn't help but grin sheepishly.

"The only coffee I enjoyed was the terribly bitter Turkish varieties I tried. Is this your favorite?"

"It's amazing, there's chocolate in it, or different nut flavours. Just look." She pointed at the board, and all of the myriad options there. "And they're always coming up with more. I usually get peppermint and chocolate with my coffee." Eating was Princess' favorite part of having a body, just after kissing.

Admittedly, he knew what most the words meant. They just seemed to be arranged in such peculiar ways.

"Well, you suggest what you think I'd like then." He grinned. "After all, you're a bit of an expert, no?"

"How about just chocolate at first?" Peppermint in it too would be too much for him at first. She was pleased when they got to the front of the time, sweetly greeting the clerk and getting them both an iced coffee. There was too much humidity in the air to have hot drinks.

Iced coffee?

He really loved this world! Amusement peppered his expression as he sipped at the drink. Really, it was as good as any ice. He wasn't much of a fan of fruits anyway, and this had a nice kick.

"Cara mia, this is fantastic. This world... my mind is racing at the possibilities!" Or the coffee. Could be either.

She laughed loudly. "That's caffeine, Papa. It speeds the blood and the thoughts." She ruffled his hair. "Ezio, have you spoken with him lately? He's doing very well for himself."

"Only briefly on those... journals?" The technology of this world was strange, but he had already thought of some improvements he could try. "I admit, I cannot wait to see him. He is a good friend."

"He's doing so well, he's so happy. He has a nice home, a lovely girlfriend, a decent job. And yet he still stays in practice. He has been very much like an older brother to me." She swung her legs, smiling at him in pleasure. "If you want me to take your notes, I still can do so - or my boxself could live with you."

There was a frisson of worry.

"Where has it been staying before? I should not want harm to come to you." He had no idea what this world truly had in store, but if Ezio was still 'remaining in practice' then he was sure there was a potential threat.

"It's stayed with the Winchesters. They're demon hunters, and they've been very good to me and my boxself both." She smiled, reaching out to squeeze his hand. "Ezio is mostly practicing to help train his girlfriend, who's actually a Winchester as well. She's a bit like a big sister."
