Entry tags:aedan surana, melora hawke

Who: Aedan Surana and Melora Hawke (and maybe bonus Eleven somewhere, if bad things happen)
What: YET MORE AWKWARD OR SOMETHING.
Where: That dragon-y planet.
Warnings: Probably not. Maybe some discussion of incredibly awkward subjects.

Aedan still honestly couldn't believe a place like this existed. He could shrug off the strangeness of the Doctor's TARDIS, considering that he'd heard enough about it from various people on the community, but this... an entire planet full of dragons. For someone who'd never met anyone even remotely like him before, this was actually pretty exciting to him. If entirely nerve wracking.

How would they even take to an Old God? It wasn't exactly like he was a typical dragon, especially since he spent most of his time as human... at least Melora being here might mean they probably wouldn't just try to eat him.

Pushing down his nerves, he glanced over at Melora. "Think this is going to go okay?"

"I think so," Melora said. Normally she was very determined and optimistic, so the hesitancy was a bit troubling. She was starting to wonder if they should've dragged Jenny along. The dragons seemed to like her more than the rest of them. Melora wasn't sure they'd remember her as well. "If all else fails, we can tell them that we're friends of the Doctor." Quietly, she added, "and hopefully that won't fail."

"I wonder if it would be better for you to meet them when you look like a dragon. Or not. I don't know." Melora frowned. The Doctor hadn't been entirely helpful on the subject.

It was hardly like they could expect the Doctor to be familiar with shapeshifters or any sort, let alone ones that transformed into dragons. Thedas had its own unique mythologies after all, ones that this world didn't seem to have equivalents to.

"I tend to have trouble talking in that form, so I don't know if that'd help." It wasn't impossible for him to do, it just took an intense amount of effort at present. It was a shame that the Archdemon's ability to talk in people's heads hadn't been kept when everything was purified. "Especially since I'm probably a pretty tiny dragon..."

Melora nodded. "Probably better to start this way. I don't know how territorial they are, but they probably worry less about humans. And they've already met me. I'm sure it'll be fine!" She had herself nearly convinced now. And besides, it would be easier to talk to him while they walked when he was like this. "And you're not tiny," she assured him, just a little smirky.

"We went that way last time," she said, pointing up the path. "They met us over by that cliff face." She grabbed his hand, walking along beside him. "Soooo, I wanted to talk to you about something. Again." She ducked her head a little, smiling sheepishly. She felt silly for having to keep revisiting the subject.

A more terrible person than he would likely have turned that into a terrible innuendo, but thankfully, Aedan couldn't bring himself to do so. Sometimes, growing up almost completely oblivious to that sort of thing did him good. "I bow to your superior knowledge, then. I mean, you've been here before and all."

Yet more talking about things? Deciding to talk about it here was a little out of the ordinary, but... hey, it took away the usual excuses they made to escape from awkwardness, so maybe it'd turn out better. "What is it this time?"

That wasn't terribly encouraging. Still, Melora was sort of self-encouraging. She didn't need much outside help, usually. She kept hold on his hand, smiling up at him a little. "Same thing, I guess. Not too much different." She had higher hopes this time. Maybe it was the exotic locale. Being on vacation made things better, didn't it?

She glanced over at him as they walked along the path. No dragons, so far. "If it's okay." She didn't want to push him.

No dragons so far was probably a good thing, if they were going to talk about things. Not that he was against talking about them - the more they talked, the less likely it was that he'd screw something up. "It's more than okay. I mean, more we talk, less stupid things we might end up doing."

That probably could've come out better.

Melora smiled a little. She was relieved, at least. It sounded less gruff and annoyed than he initially had. She'd heard 'What now, Melora?' from her brother way too many times. "I don't know, I talk a lot, and I still do a lot of crazy things." She knew what he meant, though.

"I was just thinking. You know how we talked about waiting until we're ready? Well. I was thinking." Come on, Melora, get a sentence out. She ran her free hand through her hair nervously. "I was thinking that I kind of want to wait until we're married," she said very quickly, without pausing for a breath.

Melora was incredibly nervous to hear Aedan's reaction. Oh, where was a big, dragon-shaped interruption when you needed one?

"The crazy doesn't seem as bad as it used to." When they'd first met, yes, the climbing trees and throwing herself off them thing had been entirely cracked out and bizarre, but Aedan'd come to find it almost completely normal.

Married. Right. For someone who'd been raised as a weapon, that wasn't exactly a subject he'd often come across, aside from his father once mentioning that asking certain people would lead to more fire than ever thought possible. "I... suppose that's fine? I mean, if you're okay with the idea of maybe marrying an Old God one day..."

"Only because you're used to it," she said quickly, with a grin. If she'd calmed down at all, it was only very slightly, and probably because she didn't feel as much need to show off anymore.

Melora smiled, relieved that... well, that he hadn't run away yet, mainly. "Of course," she said brightly. "I've always pictured you as my happily ever after." She'd just assumed they would be married one of these days.

Well, where would Aedan have run away to? Different planet and all and a weird man in that TARDIS pretty much meant he was staying right here with her. Not that he was going to run away. "Happily ever after with a guy who turns into a dragon. Someone should rewrite the fairytales."

As they stood, there was too much dragon slaying. Not all of them were bad, he was pretty sure of that.

"Whatever," Melora said, shaking her head. "Screw Cinderella and Snow White. I'm keeping my fairytale to myself." She leaned onto his arm a bit, swinging his hand. "I'm glad our story is the only one like it. I like having something special." And they did. All of those fairytale prince and princess stories were utterly boring.

Melora really wasn't very good at sharing, even when it was just about story concepts.

"Special's one way of putting it." After all, the first time they'd kissed had been to stop Aedan from shifting, and that had probably only happened once in all the history of the universe. "Some people might call it absolutely insane, but I'm going to guess they're just boring."

Sure, there was That Thing that they'd never talk about ever, ever again, but honestly, this was one of the most normal things he'd ever had... which probably just said a lot about his upbringing, really.

Melora grinned up at him. Yeah, super-boring. And they're probably just jealous." Who wouldn't be? Her life was full of adventure and excitement. They were on another planet! "So you're good? With happily ever after?"

Aedan chuckled softly, pulling her into a brief kiss. "More than good with it. What better person to spend my life with than the woman I'm madly in love with?"

Okay, maybe he hadn't meant to exactly say that, but after their last conversation, it slipping out didn't exactly bother him so much. It kept the more interesting thoughts about maybe raiding one of the dragon's treasure stashes for something at bay.

Melora's eyes widened when he said it. She barely had time to break into a grin before she started kissing him again. She was pretty sure she wouldn't be able to stop. He didn't just love her, he was madly in love with her! She giggled, her lips not leaving his.

Their makeout session was interrupted by the landing of a large, purple dragon. "Oh!" Melora turned to face the familiar dragon. At least this was the nice one. "Hello, Vrael," she said, dipping into an awkward skirtless curtsy.

Aedan could've almost complained about her stopping, if it wasn't for the sudden... dragon stuff. It definitely looked bigger than he did, even if he wasn't exactly sure.

"Uh. Hi?" Taking after Melora's example, he could at least offer a bow. He wasn't completely without social graces. "This is one of the ones you saw last time you were here?"

Vrael nodded in greeting to Melora, recognizing the humanish girl she'd met before. And a new one that was talking about her in third person. There was something very strange about him. "I am Vrael," she said, her head dipping low, perhaps to bow, perhaps to get a better look at the strange creatures. "What are you?" It wasn't meant to be rude, exactly.

"He's my boyfriend," Melora answered, reaching for Aedan's hand. "And he's.. um.. The reason I smell like dragons." They couldn't try to trick her, certainly.

This could be problematic, but hey, so far the dragon--Vrael--hadn't tried to eat them, and that was what counted. Aedan rubbed at the back of his neck, trying to figure out a way to put it into words. "I'm... an Old God. I'm human most of the time, but... occasionally, I'm a dragon."

It was more than a little odd, considering the dragon had probably been his only form when he was Urthemiel, but that wasn't something he exactly put much thought into. It just tended to lead to awkward and weird half-remembered... things.

Melora gave Aedan's hand a comforting squeeze. It was going well! At least, she thought so. Melora was fairly confident that Vrael wouldn't try to eat them. She wouldn't speak for the others, but Vrael didn't seem quick-tempered.

Vrael's head tilted, her large golden eyes watching him intently. "An Old God," she repeated. Whether or not she had heard of such things was not immediately clear. "Why have you come here, Old God?"

"Melora mentioned this place, and... I'm innately curious, I guess?" Aedan offered that much with a slight shrug, trying to think through this a little better. "I've never actually seen other dragons before."

Curiosity wasn't bad, right?

The dragon seemed satisfied with that answer, if the wide grin was any sign. "Well then, Old God." Vrael spread her wings. "Try to keep up." With that, Vrael took flight, heading across the canyon back to the rest of the dragons.
