WHO: Yang Min-jee and Kim Jae-sun
WHAT: Escaping the paparazzi
WHERE: Jae-sun's place of work, the library, in Seoul
WARNINGS: Probably none.

Minjee had been trying to run errands all day, but she'd continually been interrupted by photographers. They yelled her name, snapped random photos, everything. They shouted questions about someone named Cho Dong-sun. She'd just done her best to run.

She was in the north of Seoul, toward a more residential section of the city. There seemed to be some kind of a bookshop or library up ahead. Minjee fairly tossed the door open and closed it behind her, looking around inside, trying to get her breath back.

Jaesun hummed to himself as he reshelved the stray books on his cart. He pushed his glasses up a bit as he rounded a corner, nearly colliding with a pretty girl. "Pardon me," he murmured, bowing and biting his lip.

"It's okay." Min-jee looked up at him. He was handsome, but hadn't reacted immediately to her face. "Um. This sounds really stuck up, but do you know who I am? I need to hide."

He blinked, cocking his head. "I don't, and all right. You've picked a pretty good place do do that. Come on, we'll go to the reference floor." He didn't question things too deeply; she seemed upset, and upset people weren't usually too crazy.

Oh, thank God. "Thank you so much." Min-jee smiled, taking one hand impulsively, though she let it go quickly, blushing. "There's photographers following me, and I can't shake them."

"Oh, you're famous?" He put his hands onto the cart, pushing it with him toward the service elevator. "You look familiar, but I'm not sure how. Perhaps you're friends with someone I know." He smiled sweetly at her, figuring that she was friends with one of his co-workers.

Min-jee had studied up on what the girl had been in. "I've apparently been in a few television shows." She named a few dramas before realizing she'd said apparently. 맙소사!

He smiled to himself. "Did you only just arrive here? It happens to a few people every month or so. Myself included." He pushed the 'up' button, hands in his pockets. He wondered what perfume she was wearing; he thought his girlfriend would like it.

"Yes." Min-jee smiled a little bashfully. "I'm glad you don't think I'm insane. I recently came here - I sort of appeared, at a religious shrine in Japan. I called my manager and apparently I'm an idol. It's ... scary."

"It sounds like it would be scary. The person who I ... replaced, I suppose, was just a university student like me. So I changed my major and got a job here doing what I was doing before." He blinked when she mentioned a shrine in Japan. "Where did you end up? My father is Japanese. Sort of."

Min-jee smiled. "That seems nice, that you could get a job doing what you enjoy. I never had a job before, but I've seen what people do nowadays. I lived a long time ago, so I never had to work." When he asked what shrine, she thought for a moment. "I don't know if it had a name. But it was on a little island in Japan. The patron was ... unusual." How much to say?

Sheepishly, Jae-sun looked down. "If his name was Uzza, I apologize in advance. He's known to come on a little strong." The elevator bell chimed, and he moved to the completely empty floor. Not many college students did research in the library anymore.

Min-jee stopped and stared. "He's your father?" She laughed. "I was afraid of him. I'm an Unfallen. I was martyred for my faith two hundred years in the past."

"I'm sorry, I must scare you as well, then. I'm a Nephilim." He bit his lip, scratching the back of his neck. "But the only thing my father does that's scary is eat way too much junk food. If he wasn't immortal, I'd worry about him."

"You're ... like Miss Sadako? Is she your sister?" Min-jee raised an eyebrow. "She's very kind. And the patron and I had a talk ... he explained a bit about the Fallen." She smiled, still a bit shy. "I worked under an angel who saw the Fallen as an affront to yin and yang; the reason the world was out of balance. I had never met one before."

"She's my noona, yes. She's a lot older than me, though. I look my age, she doesn't." He motioned for her to walk with him; he felt guilty if he talked and didn't work at the same time. "Well, I'm sure you haven't been down here since you lived here, right?"

"Oh?" Min-jee couldn't help but be interested. She would have gone on, but something occurred to her - her face screwed up and she smacked her forehead with her palm. "I'm an idiot. My name is Yang Min-jee. I don't know how old I am now, but I was twenty-three when I was martyred."

He smiled and bowed a little. "I'm Kim Jae-sun. I'm twenty-four now, but I'll be twenty-five in April." He turned back to continue working, but his eyes were still on her from time to time to be polite. "So much must have changed for you."

Everyone seemed to be older than her. "It's nice to meet you, seunbae." Min-jee bowed her head as well, smiling. "Everything is different ... I had told Uzza seunbae as well; I've watched the last two centuries, but living them isn't quite the same."

"Still, you seem older than me. You don't have to be so formal with me if you don't want to. Do you have any questions about this time period? I've been around the whole time, unlike Father. He tends to doze when he gets sad. I think he slept through the whole ten years after my mother left him."

"Better safe than sorry, especially in Korea." Min-jee smiled; she wouldn't call him seunbae if he didn't want her to. "Do I have any questions ... I have nothing but!" She was about to go on, but then she processed what Jae-sun had said about his father. "He sleeps for so long? How is that possible?"

"He's immortal, or that's always been my guess." He shelved another book and sighed. "I assume a day for him is like many for me. I don't really know. I just know that he was sad when my mother said she couldn't be with someone who was immortal and left with me still inside her. Even my mother admits it was cruel, and she's never wrong." He smiled lopsidedly at that. "But ... I assume you don't want to talk about just my father?" Unless this was the beautiful girl that Uzza had called to babble about earlier.

"Well, I would like to know more about him. Definitely. But there's so much I don't know; I wouldn't want to trouble you." Min-jee shook her head. "I wonder mostly about ... I mean, I don't know how to be an idol! I only just held my first telephone yesterday." She laughed.

Jae-sun bit his lip. Apparently Sada hadn't been hallucinating when she thought that Minjee had been interested in their father. But first things first - helping her get settled. "Well, you'd be expected to model - dress up and pose for pictures. Sing as well, perhaps act. You don't have to do it, though."

"I did a photo-shoot yesterday and I think it went well enough. The manager seemed pleased." Min-jee shrugged. "Miss Sadako said just that, that I didn't have to do this, but I don't think I can just stop. This girl has fans who love her, and that wouldn't be good. But maybe I can taper off."

"You could start doing charity work or something." He smiled at her. She seemed sweet, if not a little nervous about her situation. It was understandable, he would have been in the same state in her position. "My sister said you were sweet, I just didn't realize who you were when I saw you."

"What a good idea." She smiled at that. Min-jee liked the idea of charity work. Maybe something in the churches, or to help Northern Koreans - she'd seen that debacle unfold. When he said he hadn't recognized her, though, she just chuckled a little. "How could you have known my name? We've never met before."

He smiled, shrugging. "Sada didn't say your name. Sada said that Father had a pretty girl show up at his temple, and she was really sweet." He smiled, studying her. "There's lots of places that need help."

"You're kind." Min-jee folded her arms, slightly embarrassed by his appraisal. "So is Miss Sadako. And I'm sure I can find some charities to help out. Perhaps I can contact my manager."

"Thank you." The appraisal wasn't his, but his sister's, but he'd agree with her anyway. "You'll do well, I think. You're already doing well for just having arrived."

"Your father was very helpful. So was Miss Qing Bu, if you know her name." Min-jee looked out the window, seeing the sidewalk empty. "They seem to have gone ... maybe I can find a safe place to go home. Can you use the port ... teleporter things?"

Min-jee blinked. She laughed. "If I can learn how to do that, I'd like to." But she held out a hand to him, knowing it was the more appropriate way to bid goodbyes nowadays. "Thank you for your help. It was nice to meet you!"

He shook her hand, then rifled around in his jacket pocket for his business card. "Let me know if you need any help, I live sort of nearby. Not really, but in the city. Father thinks highly of you, and I do the same. Maybe he can teach you how to do that? He taught me."

She looked at the card and saw he lived in Suwon, which she knew was the nearest suburb. "Thank you." Min-jee smiled again. "Maybe I will see you again. I would like that." Hopefully he didn't construe that as flirting. She didn't mean it like that, despite how handsome he was.

He didn't, and bowed politely. He took the card back for a moment, jotting down some numbers on the back. "That's my father's and Sada's numbers, in case you need them either."

He felt a little guilty for being so mischievous, but knew his father would appreciate it.
