WHY: Mandy & I are absolute jerks who like to torment our pups like woah.
WARNINGS: Not if the Supporting Cast has anything to say about it!

The Doctor frowned.

His research wasn't going so well, and considering what was on the line this was completely unacceptable. He'd likely been at it for a bit, although he couldn't have told you exactly for how long. Every day he couldn't come up with an answer was another day Rose might... no. He wouldn't think on that.

So on he worked. Her DNA had definitely been altered by the Time Vortex, but it was far too risky to try that again. It was a starting point, but not nearly enough of one.

Now that they had both worked through their demons, neither one of them had nightmares much anymore. Rose nearly always slept in the Doctor's room now, and he slept too, more nights than not. Lately, though, he'd been staying up. He said he was working on something, but Rose worried for him.

Last night he hadn't come to bed at all. That was at least three nights in a row. He was going to fall apart if he kept that up. Rose climbed out of bed, reaching for the closest thing to wear, pulling on one of the Doctor's jumpers.

"Did you stay up all night?" Rose asked when she found him working. She pushed a messy lock of hair behind her ear, realizing that it probably looked terrible.

The Doctor was vaguely aware she had asked a question. What that question was he frankly had no idea.

"... you're wearing my jumper."

Nothing else seemed to really be important. He'd always laughed at humans. So typical, to get worked up over seeing the female draped in their clothing. A protective thing really.

Well, he wasn't really laughing at the moment.

That wasn't even remotely close to an answer. Now Rose was beginning to worry that he'd gone delirious from sleep deprivation. Or that he'd been experimenting with more drugs as part of his research. "Goo goo ga joob?"

"You need sleep, Doctor," she said, walking over to him. Even if she had to drag him out of this room.

"No, hang on a second," he said, taking a step back and blinking at the jumper. It just long enough that her legs were peeking out beneath it and... oh hell.

"Wait, forget that. Sleep too."

His grin went rather manic, and his eyes took on a gleam she likely knew very well.

Rose blinked, turning her face away slightly to give him a sidelong glance. "Like a lightswitch, you are." Honestly! Not that she could really complain.. That crazy grin was enough to pull her right along with him.

"All over the jumper?" She was smiling a bit, amused.

"Bit of a fan, must say," the Doctor said, grinning that fierce grin as he pulled her in close for a kiss. At this particular second, the light switch was very much on.

Which was a terrible metaphor. He'd have to think of a better one.

Later.

His hands slid under the jumper, pulling her still closer. At this rate, they'd likely never make it out of the console room. He was essentially okay with that, and who knew? Maybe they could duplicate whatever the Ponds had managed in Eleven's TARDIS.

Not the end goal, but it'd be a rather nice surprise, wouldn't it?

Rose laughed, kissing him back. No problem with that. "I will have to keep that in mind," she said, vaguely aware of the fact that that could be the last coherent sentence she said for a while.

She grinned, happy to be grabbed at. She wasn't wearing anything under the jumper. It was nice to be able to skip the bra-removal step. Just a few layers between their chests as he pulled her closer, and she was sure that wouldn't last for long.

It felt a little naughty to be right here in the console room. They'd managed to christen lots of different rooms in the TARDIS, from the library to the swimming pool, but they hadn't actually done it here. The console room seemed oddly sacred. Which made it all the more exciting.

Of course, the closer he pulled her and the further his hands slid, the less she was thinking of the qualities of different rooms and the more her thoughts consisted of 'Ooh, naked!'

She started to pull at his shirt, tugging it off him. Now she wasn't even trying to get him to the bedroom.

The Doctor's hands went to her hair, drawing out the kiss for as long as he could possibly manage. This was very much a 'him' space, and while they hadn't been intentionally avoiding hanky-panky here, it was high time they did.

Vaguely he was aware that her hand felt just a little different, the slightest hint of a metal band around her fourth finger.

Grinning against her lips, his fingers went to the hem of her jumper. His jumper. The jumper.

Oh hell, she needed to be naked. Now.

"Mm," she murmured, her fingers tracing curves over his shoulders. "S'funny.." she started, having a bit of difficulty pulling her thoughts together. There was something there, really. She could feel the outline of his lightswitch quite clearly, and it was distracting her. For the TARDIS' part, the room had dimmed considerably to 'mood-lighting' levels.

Then the TARDIS door opened, flooding the place with bright sunlight. Jenny bounced in, carrying a towel and dressed in a bikini. "Hello, Dad!" she called cheerfully. "Why's it so dark in here?" she asked, tilting her head.

To say that this was a bit of a rude awakening would not be accurate. This was a very rude, particularly impolite and downright hostile awakening, were anything being awakened. Really, it was an interruption and quite frankly all of this thinking was superfluous.

But it was the only thing keeping the Doctor from yelling at his daughter, which even in this state he really didn't want to do.

"... Jenny? What are you doing here?" As far as articulate conversation however, she'd have to give him a moment.

"I wanted to use the swimming pool." That part was fairly obvious, wasn't it? People really only wore suits like this when they wanted to swim, right? She thought she'd been doing pretty well at this 'Earth' thing.

"Were you going to go swimming, too?" Her Dad wasn't wearing a shirt. That was probably a sign, wasn't it?

Rose blinked in confusion for a few moments before turning a nice shade of red. She pulled a bit on the jumper, hoping it would magically get a few inches longer.

Oh right. Shirt.

He'd forgotten that bit.

"Um, well, you see, no. Any chance you could come back for swimming another time? Rose and I were just... uh. Busy. With things." She'd understand, wouldn't she? From what he'd gathered, Donna and Jack had been busy with things of their own, and Jenny had to have some sense of what these sorts of activities meant, right?

Knowing Jack, she'd likely be assuming there were a lot more parties involved. Still.

"Tell you what. I'll take you to the swimming pool planet, eh? Later. A few hours later, hm?"

Jack and Donna were surprisingly good at keeping Jenny at least a little bit sheltered from their goings-ons. But she'd seen Rose pounce her Dad in her other Dad's TARDIS. She wasn't sure that was what he meant this time, but he clearly wanted her to leave.

"Dancing?"

Rose winced, nodding a little. "Yes, dancing, and it would be really great if you could come back in a few hours, yeah?"

Jenny shrugged, seeming totally unbothered. "Okay. See you guys later!" She waved before leaving the TARDIS, still amazed at how much of a fuss people made over dancing. She was going to have to find out what all this was about.

The Doctor ran a hand over his hair, trying to clear his mind for just a moment. It wasn't hard to get back on track, so to speak, but being interrupted by your daughter would put the damper on any mood for a wee tick.

A very wee tick, but still.

"All right then?" His tone was soft, and the Doctor pulled Rose back into his arms. Oh, how right she felt there.

Rose smiled a little, aware that her cheeks were probably still pink. "Yeah. Little embarrassed, but I'll get over it." Jenny had probably forgotten it by now, for how little she seemed to care about the whole situation. It wasn't an entirely uncommon experience, kids walking in on their parents.

She nuzzled into his arms. Things felt a little less frantic now. This was nice, too. She wasn't quite sure if he planned to start back up again or not.

Oh, he absolutely did, but the tone had changed. The Doctor's hands slowly moved up and down her sides under the jumper while he kissed every expanse of skin he could find.

It helped that he tended to be embarrass-proof. Plus a tad single minded when he came to think of it.

Leaning back against the console, he pulled Rose against him.

Rose grinned when he pulled her to him, kissing him back when parts got close enough. She managed to get one of his ears and part of his chin. "Feels a little kinky," she observed, already having to catch her breath, "being in here."

From the mood lighting, it seemed like the TARDIS didn't mind. The Raggedy Doctor certainly had minded when they tried it in his.

"Ever done it on the console before?" she asked, her eyes bright and teasing.

Jack was glowing. He hadn't exactly been having the best of days. Jenny knew just how to brighten up those days. With a text informing him that her Dad and Rose were dancing in the TARDIS.

But what to do with this little bit of information. He could text them asking if they needed condoms again. Or, even better, just show up with the condoms. Yes, that sounded like the thing to do.

He grabbed a box from his bathroom and rushed over to the TARDIS, throwing the door open. "Hey, the lucky couple! How are you doing?"

[info]daftoldface
2011-12-30 01:32 am UTC (link)
If he didn't know exactly what he had done, the Doctor might have wondered just what he'd done in the past lives to deserve this. But that was circular logic.

His hands didn't move from Rose's waist while his face took on something akin to the Oncoming Storm. Almost. At least Jack wasn't mad at him for meddling anymore.

"Do you just keep showing up and hoping that we'll invite you to join? Not big on sharing, me."

[info]withyouforever
2011-12-30 01:49 am UTC (link)
Well, it was slightly less embarrassing than the Doctor's daughter walking in on them. At least they were wearing more clothes this time than the last time Jack had interrupted.

Rose was trying hard not to laugh. It was amusing, just a little bit! It had been hard to get rid of Jack last time, though. And the fact that Rose was entertained wouldn't get him out the door any faster.

She focused instead on the Doctor, leaning in to kiss his neck lightly. "Don't we have a lock?"

Jack just grinned at the look. He would find it scary in any other situation, but not here. "Aw. You break my poor heart." He tossed the box to them. "Jenny just mentioned there was dancing and you know how much I love dancing."

Leaning back, the Doctor knocked his head on the time cylinder.

Hard.

"So go dance! Elsewhere! Not here!" Looking down at Rose, he sighed. What she'd said before the door opened had sounded so interesting...

Down boy.

"And yes, we do have a lock, which is why you have a key, and I plan on using it just as soon as Captain Harkness here goes off to find a dancing friend of his own, never you fear."

Rose pressed her mouth against the Doctor's neck, laughing. She was only encouraging Jack, she knew, but she couldn't help it. She was fairly certain the Doctor would have to physically remove Jack from the TARDIS.

"Jack, I promise, if we ever need a third party, you'll be the first person we call." He was handsome enough! He just wasn't the Doctor.

"I'll take you to that planet with the three breasted women and leave you there for a week, sounds good?" Granted, the Doctor's attention was entirely lost at this point since Rose's lips were on his neck.

That was cheating and she knew it.

Rose was just trying to suppress her giggles, that was all. It wasn't her fault that the Doctor's spot happened to be right there in the way. Once the TARDIS door shut, though, she wasn't exactly rushing to move.

"Gone?" she asked, running the tip of her tongue up toward his jawline.

Letting go of Rose for a brief but extremely pained minute, the Doctor went and locked the door before all but charging back to her side.

"Gone." His voice was a near growl, and he lifted her against him, hands threading into her hair as he claimed her lips again.

Jack might've been gone, but a certain Time Lord who'd let himself in and had been nicking books from the library wasn't. And he was mildly traumatised.

Maybe he could sneak out through the back door before they noticed him. That was a plan... one that was almost immediately scuppered when he tripped over the hatstand and landed flat on the floor with a rather loud clatter.

"Ah. Sorry! Ignore me, really, didn't see anything," he was up like a shot, definitely not looking at them and dusting down his jacket. "I mean, what a man does in his own TARDIS is his own business. Gets a little fiddly when we're technically the same man but still!"

Oh, that growl made Rose melt every time. She was relatively certain that he did it just to drive her crazy now. Not entirely unlike the neck-thing. She licked her lips and then--

--Oh god, not again. Her head thunked forward against her Doctor's chest. "There hasn't been anything to see, yet!" she said, exasperated.

Maybe there was a reason they usually didn't use the console room for this particular activity. Too much traffic.

"Yes, my TARDIS! Mine! Meaning yes, my own business and... wait, is that Aristotle's lost treatise on mathematics? Thought I lost that years... NEVERMIND!"

The Doctor looked over to his older self, utterly exasperated.

"Do us a favor? Lock the door on your way out, please? You wouldn't believe who's been dodging in and out of here tonight. I'll owe you one."

Besides, one of these days he'd likely get around to such activities with Dr. Song and remember what all the fuss is about.

It was amazing what you found in the TARDIS library when you were bored. And in the wrong TARDIS. But still.

"Might want to run a scan for anyone else," he suggested, picking up that aforesaid 'lost' treatise and popping it into the messenger bag he'd rather unceremoniously knocked to the floor along with the hatstand. "I mean, in case you're planning on... you know. Humany... stuff."

He rubbed at the back of his neck, trying to keep his thoughts pure and innocent and not at all considering things that made him liable to faint. Making his way across the console room whilst not looking at them was a little awkward, but... he could handle it. It was better than the alternative. "You, uh. Have fun. I guess. I mean, I don't remember why people like that sort of stuff, but... okay, shutting up now, bye!"

"Bye, Doctor," she called after him, shaking her head. Once he was gone, she chuckled softly. "I sort of feel sorry for River," she remarked. The poor woman was missing out.

"Too many people have keys to this place, you know." Even with the door locked, they'd have to worry about the Doctor's past and future selves and companions.. "We could just move to the bedroom."

"Right," the Doctor mumbled, sighing to himself. Who'd have thought he'd regenerate into such a blasted prude?

With a grand, if awkward gesture, he pulled Rose into his arms and grinned at her, bridal style if one was to think of it that way.

"That's right. Bedrooms. No more interruptions, no more ridiculous interlopers, be it Me or otherwise, and no more..."

They'd been looking for the better part of the week to try and find the Swimming Pool in the Raggedy Doctor's TARDIS, but finally Rory just had to say hang it and head off to the Grumpy one's. He needed to clear his head, and that had been just the thing.

Unfortunately, walking out to see a shirtless Grumpy Doctor carrying a half naked Rose Tyler (thankfully with the bits covered that his wife would smack him for) just undid the thing and added a whole list of things to surprise him with.

"Oi! I... uh..." He knew it was positively barmy, but the Grumpy Doctor was even skinnier than the Raggedy one. It was like Gumby without the green.

... why on earth was that the first thing that popped in his head?

"Um, sorry about that."

Embarrassment, amusement, exasperation.. Now there was just screaming left, and Rose let out a frustrated "Aahhhgh!" She was about ready to give up for the day.

Really? Really?

"There are pools outside of TARDISes."

Maybe try they could try this room again when they'd parked on a deserted island, or the moon. And a few pillows on the console probably wouldn't hurt, either.

Rory knew that look. Rory didn't really feel like dealing with said look. Sort of eerie how they always kept the same eyes. Old eyes.

Right. Wool-gathering. Time for that later.

"Um, right then." He was just out the door when he suddenly turned around to face the pair again. "If you're trying to get the time stream change thingy, gotta be on the console, to the left. Just there. And Amy was on top, not sure if that helps or matters, but... just so you know."

No reason why he couldn't be helpful, Rory thought to himself as he let himself out and locked the door.

Rose raised a brow, turning back to the Doctor. "'Time stream change thingy'? Is that why you wanted to do it on the console?" At some point the Doctor would learn that keeping little secrets from Rose was dangerous business. It made her get a look in her eye that resembled her mother's far too much.

Granted, there was a relatively easy solution for that problem..

"Oh, that wouldn't be nearly as fun for you, though. And not just the dancey sort of fun. You've got scientific curiosity to satisfy, too." She smirked. "Wouldn't want to keep you from that.."

Oh please, for the love of everything, let there be no more interruptions. "We should seal all the doors, inside and out." There was a button for that, wasn't there? Or maybe they could ask the TARDIS nicely.. She probably wanted her time vortex back up and running, too. "If anyone else is swimming, they can make a few more laps."

With what remaining sanity the Doctor had (and it was a precious small amount to start with) he grabbed the sonic and closed up shop. The TARDIS, jewel that she was, brought the lights low as the Doctor set Rose on the console with a predatory gleam in his eye.

"You're absolutely right, Rose Tyler. For science, after all."
