WHO: Annie and Jae-sun
WHAT: A lazy day at home
WHERE: Jae-sun's flat in Suwon, South Korea
WARNINGS: K-dramas.

Annie had the day off, and she wanted to just stay and relax. Jae-sun was at the library, and Annie had stayed in bed, channel surfing. She'd found CNN English, and was flipping through the rest of them now. She'd seemed to be able to understand Korean now, which was cool. Just as she flipped another channel, she saw a guy who looked ... a startling amount like Jae-sun, really. He was talking to another guy with weirdly curly hair, about some girl. It looked like a soap opera of some kind.

Three hours later, Annie hadn't moved. Had it been that long?

When Jae-sun returned home from work, he saw his girlfriend sleeping on the couch. He covered her with a blanket before moving as quietly as he could to the kitchen. Soon enough he had some ramen cooking up.

The smell woke her, and Annie stirred. "Hey. Did I fall asleep?"

"Yes. I don't know when, but I'm guessing it was some time ago. You were asleep when I got home." He turned to smile at her, stirring carefully.

Annie smiled. "Mm. It was a good nap. I was watching this show on TV - did you flip a switch or something and let me understand Korean? Cause I was watching this show about two guys fighting over a girl, and then the girl liked both of them, and all that. One of the guys looked creepily like you. Or was that a dream?"

"I'm glad you had a good nap. And I did help you understand Korean, simply because you've been here more. I could fix it, if you'd like." He cocked his head to the side, blinking. "I don't know that show, but I'm not really much for television."

"Really? Just cause?" Annie pulled herself to a sitting position. "I also saw this other show ... something about vampires and lawyers? Weird."

"You've been spending a lot of time here," he blushed. Moving to pour the ramen into bowls, he chuckled at her observation. "Vampire Prosecutor? Admittedly, I do enjoy that show."

"Do you?" Annie grinned, taking the bowl with thanks as he came into the room to sit down. "The only person I know who likes that kind of soap opera type stuff is Michael. Archangel Michael. Which is still weird, that I know him." She folded her legs underneath her, going to start on the food. "How was your work day? It's weird having a day off."

"Dramas here are so ridiculous that they're not even a soap opera anymore. They're simply funny." He ate his food as well, chuckling to himself. "Uncle Michael likes things like that? I should invite him over, there's a few dramas I can think of he'd like. And work was fun, I got to help reorganize some shelves."

"Michael and his lady friend watch telenovelas for fun." Annie smiled, slurping her noodles - she wasn't sure if it was polite; she'd apologize if it wasn't. "This kind of stuff seems like it'd be right up their alley."

"I guess it makes sense, they seem like they might get bored." He slurped as well, sighing contentedly. "But we can watch whatever you like, it's your day off."

"I'm honestly just glad to be here, as stupid as it might sound." Annie smiled a little shyly. "I like just being with you ... oh, God, this isn't a bad romance novel, is it?" She laughed. It was true, though. This was her day off, and she couldn't think of much that was better than hanging out with her boyfriend. Maybe a little sex later.

"This show? Not as far as I can tell." He sipped the broth left in his bowl, fairly oblivious to her question. "And I like being with you too." He smiled back at her, eventually moving to kiss her on the cheek.

They sat in silence for a little while, but Annie did remember what she'd wanted to ask him. "Hey. I wondered." She turned to face him, setting her bowl on the table nearby. "Can I ask you something?" She'd been curious ever since she'd met Uzza. "If it's not too personal. What's the rest of your family like?"

He blinked. "The family I grew up with, or the people here who are related to me?" In his opinion, it was a huge difference.

"Your mom, and your sisters. I don't know. I just ... I'd like to know more about you. But if it's nosey you don't have to." She felt weirdly shy; she just wanted to know more about him. She liked him a lot and was thinking about ... stuff. She wanted to know him on a deeper level.

He smiled and leaned back. "I don't know much about my sisters, and Ikuko is gone now anyway." Sighing, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer. "My mother is an anthropology professor. She specializes in religions of Asia. She met my father while studying Shinto temple construction."

"It was just you and her, then?" Annie snuggled on him. "You might have liked my house, I don't know. You've seen it; my house is never silent."

"It was. She didn't stay with my father, even though he offered to let her stay with him. She said she never wanted to be tied to someone. Our house was quiet, but my mother's a force to be reckoned with. She chose to be a single mother. She wanted me, but didn't want anyone to tell her what to do." He smiled fondly, remembering all the times she'd scolded him. He'd never been yelled at, just talked to sternly. "I'd have liked to visit your house, but I like having a place for calm. I like both."

Annie chuckled. "Your mom sounds like my mom." She curled up next to him, feeling small in a good way. "I don't mean to interrogate you. I just like to know. I grew up in a weird household, and the idea of anyone having a normal childhood is ... interesting."

"I don't know if it was entirely normal." He ran his fingers over her hair, smoothing it gently. "But yours sounds a lot more loud. Your family's so large. I always wanted a pet. My mother's allergic. ... Would you bet upset if I adopted one of Father's friends?"

"All right." Jae-sun smiled, pulling a pair of reading glasses from his jacket pocket. He picked up a book from a table by the end of the sofa, turning to a dog-eared page and curling his legs underneath himself.
