"Let me in!" she called, turning over her shoulder to address the TARDIS. It was a bit silly--it's not as though looking at the corridor's ceiling was any more looking 'at' the TARDIS than looking anywhere else. It was all around them. "Open this door, you overgrown phone box!" she yelled, her voice shaking. "Or I'll tear you apart bit by bit and build you back into a portaloo!"
The door swung open and Rose stepped in. She'd never been in the Doctor's room before. She hadn't really known if he'd had a bedroom. It was dark now, and she couldn't see much. He was still screaming, though. It felt like someone was squeezing her heart.
...And burning her feet. Underneath her bare feet, the ground was growing unbearably hot, and she could almost hear sizzling. She ran across the floor, jumping onto the edge of the Doctor's bed.
The floor was literally lava.
She made a note to apologize to the TARDIS later. More important things to do now. "Doctor?" Her heart was beating so fast it probably sounded like two. She reached out to touch his cheek. "Doctor, please wake up."
