WHO: Jean Grey & River Tam
WHEN: Saturday Night
WHAT: Defending London from the Uruk Hai
WHY: Because screw you logic, that's why

It had been way too long since Jean had flown.

It had also been a long time since she had used her Phoenix gifts to light enemies on fire, but that was far less enjoyable. When this was over, whatever this was, she'd have to make a point of doing it more.

But first, there was work to be done. Some of it was merely ridiculous, like the giant rabbits and singing plants. But vampires and werewolves and these strange goblin men she faced now were terrifying.

Or would be, if she was a different woman. This destruction and terror just made her angry. Very angry.

River swayed as the flood of fire-edged infinity suddenly...vanished. Blocked off. There was a hole in her awareness. Other things crowded out the hole, other information, information was everywhere and it flooded her, but the hole belonged to the phoenix, and she wanted to know how it was done, how she could do it, become a hole and drop through herself into somewhere quiet.

River stepped out of the way as one of the oncoming Uruk-hai lifted a bow, took aim, and fired at the back of her head. She was still staring at Jean.
