WHO: Jean Grey & River Tam
WHEN: Saturday Night
WHAT: Defending London from the Uruk Hai
WHY: Because screw you logic, that's why

It had been way too long since Jean had flown.

It had also been a long time since she had used her Phoenix gifts to light enemies on fire, but that was far less enjoyable. When this was over, whatever this was, she'd have to make a point of doing it more.

But first, there was work to be done. Some of it was merely ridiculous, like the giant rabbits and singing plants. But vampires and werewolves and these strange goblin men she faced now were terrifying.

Or would be, if she was a different woman. This destruction and terror just made her angry. Very angry.

That. That. What was that? That was more than fire. That was a star being born, coalesed, captured, infinite, embodied. And it'd reached for her. It'd reached for her. Deliberately. With intent. Not all-encompassing, though it could all-encompass, did she know what she carried, what drove her? Did River?

River hacked and slashed her way through the Uruk-hai, mindless, made of violence, silence them quick and get them out of her head, stab this one with that one's sword, cartwheel back out of the way of that one, hit exactly the right spot to make that one stumble into the next, behead both, take the axe, keep dancing towards the fire.
