WHO: Qing and Ezio
WHAT: Meeting
WHERE: New York City
WARNINGS: Probably not.

Ezio found his way into New York City, down to the area called Little Italy. He was in town to meet with a potential recruit, but he wanted to have a bit of fun and food at the same time. He was waiting in line in Little Italy at a place called a deli, looking with delight at the espresso and the meat counter.

She'd been out and about, shopping for new pens in preparation for Halloween. It was the busiest time of the year for her, and she hated it. But she was in good spirits when she got in line at a deli, thinking she'd get a cappuccino and a sandwich.

But a chuckle came from her lips when she recognized the brick shithouse in front of her. "Hello, Ezio."

Ezio blinked, turning around to see a small, thin Asian lady. "Hello," he said, faintly confused. "I am sorry, but have we in fact met?"

"No, but I know you. It is my job to do so." She smiled at him, shrugging a shoulder. "You know, you're the splitting image of your father? Giovanni would have been proud of what you have become."

Ezio stopped, eyes widening faintly. "Giovanni - what - You knew my father?" He'd heard there were angels here, but at the same time, it was jarring - frightening, almost, to hear.

"I was aware of him. It is my job to be aware of all things. You. Your father. Your brothers and sisters. Templars, your struggle." Reaching out to shake his hand, she smiled. "Bu Qing, Celestial Abacus."

Ezio took her hand, still surprised, but less scared. "What does that mean?" Was she an angel of some kind?

"I'm the part of the Celestial Bureaucracy that keeps tabs on everyone so I know where to sort you all when you pass on." She shrugged a shoulder. "Let me pay for your coffee."

Ezio's brow furrowed. "Are you not an angel, then. Thank you," he added as she tucked some money into his hand. "What an exhausting job that must be."

"No, a god. But don't worry, I'm not an all creator like your lot believes in. Just a peon, a cog in the wheel." She smiled and ordered a triple shot espresso and a turkey sandwich on wheat with some tomatoes and olive oil. "It is. You have no idea how much. Halloweens here are taxing."

"Why?" Ezio couldn't help asking as he took his food, waiting for her. "All Hallows' is so taxing?"

"It is here," she shrugged. She took her food and went to a booth, sitting down and smiling. "It's exhausting here. Monsters everywhere, and every time one of them breaks anything? I have to make note. Injuries? Note. Anything? Notes."

"Breaking anything? Even inanimate objects?" Ezio raised an eyebrow. "What manner of madness makes you so busy? Have you no underlings?" It just seemed unfair.

"I have five. They're not really good at their jobs, though." She sighed and shook her head. "I'm just not going to sleep." She shrugged a shoulder and sipped her coffee. "How are you and Altair coming along with your recruits?"

She would know Altair. "Well enough. We start small, with family members and loved ones who wish to join."

"Please, do be cautious with him. He is ... going through a tough time." Her icy cold demeanor broke for a moment, and she sighed. "I fear being brought here may not help that."

"His ... the woman he loved. She died." She sighed and looked down. "Not in a way that he will speak of with you, either."

Ezio shook his head. "The Templar woman? The mother of his children?" He hated to think of it; he couldn't judge Altair. "We have all lost family to this war."

"But it recently happened for him. You have had some distance." She smiled to herself, tucking her hair behind her ears. "I'm glad your search is going all right. The world needs more of you."

"I understand." He wouldn't go into it, not with Altair. "We were numerous before. Not so much anymore." If she knew everything, she knew about Abstergo.

Ezio followed suit, blinking when she spoke so bluntly. "You are not a part of the Templars' plan." Of course she was not; she did not encompass their Christian world.

"Of course I'm not. But without free will, there's no need of anyone to catalog anyone's actions." Shrugging, she leaned back and wished she could light a cigarette. "Gods from my plane can die. It simply takes something catastrophic. Such as the obliteration of choice."

Ezio nodded. It made a grim kind of sense. "Is it safe to call you an ally, then? I would not insist you do anything against neutrality, but your interests lie with ours."

"Of course it is. I'm trying to date your friend." She rolled her eyes. "I wish he had a bit more time to heal, but ... if wishes were fishes, I suppose." Qing gently nudged him under the table with her toe. "How's Danielle?"

"Why do you push?" Ezio asked, sitting back. "If he just recently lost her. Do you know something we do not?" He did laugh when she asked after Dani, but he still wanted an answer. "Danielle is very well. Handling every challenge I toss at her, in every way."

"I don't push, and I don't know anything differently. Well. In your time, I remember his death. It's the burden of seeing all of your timelines at once." She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. "Dani is a good girl. She deserves all you give her and more."

"Dani makes me laugh." Ezio could be warm about that. "She is ... enchanting." There wasn't any other word for it. "I respect her, in addition to finding her attractive."

"Yes. She told me." Ezio shrugged. It didn't affect him, or it only indirectly affected him. It wasn't as if he would allow it to happen to him.

"And the one before that broke up with her repeatedly when he got drunk, which was often. She's been ill-treated, and that's coming from someone who regularly catalogs ill-treatment." She shrugged and folded her legs under her lap. "I'm glad that I ran into you. I'd forgotten how handsome everyone in your line is."

Ezio laughed. "My father would be happy to hear it. He used to tease Uncle Mario something awful, though." He had gotten to the point where he could laugh and remember the good things about his father and brothers. "He used to say that Federico, my brother, was the looks in the family, though."

"Oh, you all got Ilario's looks. And he in turn got Altair's looks." She shrugged and smiled at him, laughing to herself. "I did always think that your brother was the prettiest of your siblings. Well, besides Claudia, obviously."

"How impolite." Ezio was laughing, though, as he took a bite of his sandwich. "Dani clearly prefers me." He joked.

"Well good for her! I'm glad. You know, I was surprised she fancied you. In the past she tended to favor boys she could break in half. Maybe she realized that they weren't any good for her." Winking, she leaned forward. "Don't worry, I don't document anything that's too sexually specific, but you are impressive."

"Well, she's sort of been known to date men with ... specific... assets." She held her hands far apart to indicate length and shrugged. "I'm sure you're like the Grail for her. You're tall... you possess said generous endowment , and you're honorable."

"I sincerely hope that is not the only reason she suffers my company." Ezio smiled a little, but it was a bit softer than his previous joking manner. He'd grown fond of Dani, and she hopefully knew it.

"I could tell you, but you already know the answer why, I'm guessing." She shrugged, smiling back. "How are you handling all the new technology? I feel badly for Altair."

"I am managing." Ezio ate a bit more, stifling a burp. "Scusi. I have still not yet mastered the telephone, but I am getting around the internet, and Dani is helping me with things like motorcars and television."

"What part of the phone don't you get? And please, don't drive yet. It takes years to practice. I generally just don't bother." Teleportation was simple for her, and she liked it.
