Who: Han and Leia
What: Reuniting
Where: Kungsträdgården, Stockholm, Sweden
Warnings: Probably not. They swear in space-talk. It's safe for young ears.

Escaping from the Royal Palace had been a doddle for someone with a lifetime's experience at sneaking out from under the eyes of the people who were supposed to be watching her. There were a few alarms and fences to cause trouble, but nothing Leia couldn't handle. Navigating Stockholm was no more difficult, though she was impressed by the crowds. And surprised; it'd been a long while since she'd been anywhere with such an overwhelmingly humanoid population. Were there no other races on this planet at all?

A few people stared at her as though seeing someone familliar, but all apparently dismissed the resemblance as their imagination. Fortunately. She didn't really want to waste time bluffing and pretending to be someone else, she was in too much of a hurry.

Six months. Six months without a word, and he'd been here, wherever here was. Clearly not his fault, given that she'd been taken as abruptly and with as little warning. Her heart clenched when she thought of how pained Luke must be, back home. She had to find a way back, if it was at all possible. Not just for Luke, but for everyone. There was so much work to be done. Peace needed to be built, it didn't just spring up from the ashes of war like the legendary rebirthing firebirds.

Even so, she couldn't help being happy to set all of it aside for now.

Leia stood on the rim of the Fountain of Molin to give herself a bit more height, and wished she'd picked somewhere without quite so many people. She'd never spot Han at this rate.

Han leaned in, pressing a kiss to her cheek right by her ear.

"I'll be back in a few hours for dinner. Don't work too hard." He meant that last bit, even if it came out too sarcastic. There was no war here, and she had a bad habit of pushing herself far beyond the limit.

"It'll mostly be research, I suspect. That's not difficult, just time-consuming. I'll make sure the staff at the palace know to let you in, so you can come straight there if you want." She'd let them know to give him complete access to her at all times. Not a privilege granted to many but she'd make damn sure they understood it was allowed in this case.

Leia turned her head to kiss him properly one more time, letting her mouth linger on his. It was going to be a long few hours, she could already tell.

"I like the sound of that," he murmured against her lips. If Han was honest with himself, he would have to admit that he had no interest in leaving. More than likely he'd spend the time trying to find unsecured entrances to this palace, in the interests of keeping her safe, of course.

"Dinner. And no coming back here afterwards. You don't get to work yourself that hard, your highnessness." If he was even more honest, he'd admit that he was glad she was a princess even here. Teasing her was a hell of a lot easier that way.

Leia shrugged. "To be honest, you probably don't have to leave, so long as you don't mind waiting in some reception room or library or such. But not with me. I'll need to concentrate, and I won't be able to do that with you around to distract me. But if I'm not heading back to the palace after dinner, where are you suggesting I sleep?"

She wasn't sure if the highnessness was annoying or not.

Han gave her the full scoundrel charm.

"I can think of a place."

It was worth a shot, right?

...all right, so it was tempting. Very tempting. But too much had happened that day, and Leia didn't want the distraction of all those other thoughts interfering in something as important as...well. "Later," she said, standing on tip-toes to give him one more kiss. "Not too much later. I promise. Just...give me a little time to adjust to all of this. It's a lot to take in."

Part of her did want to just hide in his arms and hope everything would be rendered irrelevent for a while, but there'd been too many revelations, and he deserved her full attention. If she couldn't give him that, she'd rather wait until she could.

Han didn't take offense. Wordlessly, he brushed a strand of her hair that escaped it's plait behind her ear, then pressed an equally gentle kiss to her forehead.

"Can't wait," he finally murmured before letting her go. Something in his chest just ached with impatience, but he'd waited a long time for his Princess. He'd manage to hang on a little more.
