Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:charles brandon, eustace chapuys, gabriella montez, henry tudor, mary tudor, sharpay evans

WHO: Henry Tudor, Gabriella Montez, & anyone who wants to show up!
WHAT: The reception after their wedding (finally!)
WHERE: The Palms in Las Vegas
WHEN: August 25th (but very bendy-time)
WARNINGS: None at the moment, but it could change depending on the guests

Looking at the ring on her finger, Gabriella smiled. She was FINALLY married to Henry Tudor, rock star and lead singer of Whitehall, and all of his wives would have to accept her finally. Right? Sharpay helped her change from the more traditional wedding dress she'd picked out to a slinkier white dress that seemed better for partying at The Palms. Should she change her last name now? If she didn't, would Henry be mad at her? Who was going to catch the flowers or the garter? And why did it seem like everyone in the band was growing up? (Charles and Jane had a baby now, after all...)

At least no one could get mad at her anymore, right? And things would go smoothly at the reception. There was cake, drinks, music, snacks (man, she was totally hungry after not eating all day to squeeze into her dress!), and party favors that Henry said he'd picked out for all their guests. Tudor family members, ex-wives, friends, pretty much anyone. She was curious to see who would come...

No sable cloak, no scepters, no crowns and no Archbishop of Canterbury to perform the ceremony. Still, by Las Vegas standards according to their wedding coordinator, the ceremony was particularly traditional and old fashioned. It had been gray morning coats and top hats for the groom and his groomsmen, and a genuine Vicar had been flown in to perform the rite. All in all, Henry was sure that it was about as royal a wedding as could have been thrown by someone who was no longer technically a monarch.

After having changed into a tuxedo for the reception, Henry was glad once the receiving line was finished and he could put his hand to better use than shaking the hands of guests-- eating and toasting to his new bride.

Finding a fleeting quieter moment, Henry pulled his new wife aside and into his arms. "It's too bad your Maid of Honor helped you out of your wedding dress, sweetheart... I would have happily done so. Even if it made us a bit late," he whispered, laughing.

"Hey, Sharpay totally helped me out in pulling this whole thing together in time and..." Gabriella paused and smiled at Henry.

"We're actually married." She tilted her head. "So... no divorcing or chopping off my head now, right?"

Henry chuckled. She hadn't quite understood what he'd meant, but that was all right. There would be time enough later. He laughed again and shook his head. "I can't think of a single reason why I'd want to not be married to you now that I am. Not for a moment, so definitely not forever."

To say that Mary had grown, considerably, since coming here was an understatement. She talked to a few people while still in school regarding her emotions in dealing with her father's relationships and she was told that it was quite normal for a child to want their parents to get back together, even once they had moved on. They told her that the feeling never went away, even as an adult, but that true growth was in respecting the fact that they were happy. She didn't think her mother was, but it did seem her father was. She had nothing against Gabriella, unlike a couple of Henry's previous relationships, and she hoped that her father truly was happy as well as Gabriella being happy. It still didn't stop her from wishing, deep down, that her parents were together. Some things were difficult to let go of.

However, she'd learned to become more independent and knew she needed to focus on herself more and allow her father to be happy. If his seventh marriage was that happiness, she would wish them both the best and focus on her life and her own happiness. With that thought in mind, and for once pushing thoughts of her mother aside, Mary donned the slinkier then she ever thought she'd wear dress that she had bought in a royal blue. She had been assured she looked smashing in it by the clerk that sold it to her. Getting her hair and make-up professionally done, the locks swept softly off her face and neck, she'd made her way to both wedding and reception.

"Mary!" Gabriella bounced over to her... daughter-in-law? Weird. She hugged her and smiled. "Thank you for coming. It means a lot, really, and you look great."

Then she took a deep breathe. "Are you, um, angry at me? For marrying him?"

Mary hugged Gabriella, startled by her question, but she would address things one at a time. Another stepmother. One she was older than but she wouldn't dare compare this one to Katherine Howard.

"The ceremony was lovely," she said. Finally she shook her head. "No. My father is happy and that is what matters. I've had time since coming here to talk to others who have divorced parents."

She nodded her head, relieved because it had been on her mind a lot. Mary was nice (from everything that Gabriella could see) and she was nice to her. Maybe time made things different?

"Thank you." Gabriella took a deep breath and grinned. "So, should I throw the bouquet to you, then?"

"...doesn't that usually mean they are the next to marry?" Mary asked. She gave a nervous laugh. "No, it's probably better to send it to someone who will actually *get* married."

Eustace had expected nothing less from Henry Tudor than a ceremony and feast that spoke of splendor, wealth and pride but he was quite pleasantly surprised that the entire affair thus far had been quite elegant, as well. Attired in proper formal wear (it was quite refreshing, having to wear so many fewer layers), he had very much enjoyed the ceremony and was eager to celebrate the happy couple at the reception.

Truth be told, however, Eustace had more often than he'd expected found his eyes leaving the bride and groom to gaze upon his-- considering they had gone out, he supposed he could at least call her a ladyfriend-- Mary, whose beauty this occasion took his breath away. He sought her out after making his pleasantries with Henry and approached Mary smiling widely. "You are a vision," he said without preamble.

"Sweetheart!" Henry called from yards away, a gap he closed quickly by taking long strides across the room and narrowly missing one of the servers carrying a massive silver tray of champagne flutes. He wrapped his arms around Mary and hugged her warmly. "It makes me so very happy to have you here, Mary. Especially looking so wonderfully beautiful."

It was a beautiful wedding, and Charles was impressed that they'd pulled it off so easily and so quickly. It made him wonder if Jane was upset about how they had to run off to get married, or if she missed the more traditional wedding.

Then again, they had a baby to show for it now so maybe it was fine. He was never sure. Charles didn't think he'd ever figure out women, not even his wife.

"Thank you for bringing the whole family on such short notice." Gabriella hugged Charles and then pulled him aside. "Can you give me hints? On what it's like being married to someone that history says you're not supposed to be married to?"

Henry clapped a hand on his good friend's shoulder and handed him one of the two drinks he was holding. "Thank you, Charles. It would have been a much lesser ceremony-- and world, for that matter-- had you not been here with me."

Eustace found his way to the blushing bride first, moving across the reception hall to bow slightly before her and offer his hand. "Greatest congratulations to you," he said warmly.

Sharpay was absolutely in her element. She was head-to-toe in the most fabulous outfit at the entire reception-- well, all right, the second-most fabulous, but bride was her bestie and she had promised herself she wouldn't outshine Gabriella on such an important day. As the bride's right hand, she was pretty much in charge of the show which meant she had lots of caterers and DJs and other little people to boss around. And later on, she was going to sing with the band. Things couldn't have been more perfect.
