Zod had kidnapped Lois in London, but he'd knocked her unconscious, and she had no idea how far he could have taken her. She knew it was some kind of abandoned warehouse. The weird graffiti she'd been investigating was burned into the walls. She knew she'd seen it before back in Metropolis. Apparently it had something to do with this Zod guy.

The guy thought he was some sort big shot, and kept trying to get Lois kneel before him. She probably should have just done it, but Lois was loud and bull-headed and didn't always know what was best for her. Kneeling for some psycho didn't fit into her five-year plan.

Lois was currently lying limp in her bonds, sleeping or maybe unconscious. Zod had left; he had better things to do than watch a girl sleep. She must have been frustrating to work with. She didn't know anything about where Clark was, she refused to kneel, and she mocked him even when he tried to break her.

Varric hadn't stopped looking for her. He was glad when his feelers finally came back with something. Isabela's man Hotchner had arrived at his door, letting him know that he was ready to move on some information if he wanted to come with him. Of course the answer was yes. He'd grabbed Bianca and gone with the man, examining his hand cannon as they moved to a portkey.

Varric was nervous, shifting his weight, chewing on his nails. He hoped they weren't too late.

The Kryptonian symbols signifying the house of Zod were burned into the outside of the warehouse, too. He hadn't exactly been aiming for stealth. But if a person didn't know what they were looking for, it could have been mistaken for normal street graffiti.

The warehouse was dark inside, and it took a while for Lois to even realize she was regaining consciousness. The pain was the real clue she was awake. She tried to keep her eyes closed and her breathing slow, feigning sleep, in case Zod was still here.

The military man led the assault first, and Varric was more than happy to go behind him. He looked around, wondering why they were looking in here at all - but not questioning. He'd had ears to the ground for a long time and nothing had born fruit.

He started to inspect the other rooms, hoping that he found Lois while at the same time hoping that Hotchner was wrong, that she wasn't here, hurt, in squalor.

When she heard the sound of someone coming back in, her heart sank. She'd been hoping he would be gone so she could try to escape. She gritted her teeth, her anger too much to keep quiet. "Okay, you sack of shit--" she paused, getting the vague sense something was off. There were more people, and they were moving differently.

Was there something worse than Zod? She felt a shiver of dread--and immediately felt angry with herself for being afraid. Come on, Lois, channel that anger. "If you think I'm gonna kneel for your lame ass, Skippy--"

	Varric heard a familiar voice, and he ran over to her. "Firecracker!" She was tied to a wall, slumping forward. "What happened - " He cut himself off, trying to focus on getting her down, to help her. "Oh, what did he do to you?" His voice held a tremor of fear, something that few people had ever heard. "Varric?" She took a deep, shaky breath, nearly crying in relief. She'd been so angry and afraid that she'd almost forgotten the possibility of rescue. She was just held up by rope around her shoulders and wrists. Rope was easy for Zod to burn through and try to get her to kneel.

"Varric.." She tried to push herself up. "I don't think I can walk." She would have forced herself to stand if Zod had been there, but with the way her right leg was throbbing, there was no way she was going anywhere on her own. Something was definitely broken there, and she suspected her shoulder was dislocated.

	He shook his head. "You're not going to have to walk. I'll carry you." He took a bolt out of Bianca and started to saw through the ropes. "Lawman! Get in here and help me!" She was already leaning on Varric as he worked through the ropes. She grunted when her shoulder was jarred a bit. "I think it's dislocated."

She glanced to Hotch. "I don't know what that is, but I don't really care at this point." If she had been more with it, she would have recognized the name from working in the press in London. Heck, there was a chance she recognized it now and was just defaulting to the arrogant army brat attitude she'd been raised with. She would take any help she could get, though.

	He winced when he heard that sound of pain, wishing he was a healer. "We'll get you over to my friend Anders, he's a healer, he can help you." If the situation weren't so grim, Hotch would have laughed at that, but he was focused on making sure whoever had done this to her wouldn't return. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Healers, hospitals, whatever, let's just get out of here." She was trying to keep her voice even. Her ropes were cut now and she winced at the pressure on her leg. Even leaning heavily on Varric, her knee still felt like like the whole thing had been shattered. If she could just pass out from the pain, that would be a whole lot easier. 	Hotch took a moment to pick up Lois into a fireman's carry, nodding at Varric to take point and make sure the doors were clear. He normally wouldn't have trusted a crossbow, but if Isabela trusted him, then so did Hotch. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Maybe it was luck or maybe he'd been paying attention. Either way, Hotch had picked her up so that her injured shoulder was on the outside and wasn't jostled.

It was a relief; now she was being carried and had her eyes closed.. It was like it was someone else's problem. Sure, she was still in just as much danger as they were, but she could finally turn off.

"Anybody else want pancakes?"

Hotch blinked at her, shaking his head. He'd noticed where she was hurt, and he was careful not to jostle her. "Maybe after you've had your knee and shoulder looked at." He was quiet, hoping that whoever had done this to her wouldn't come back.

Varric, once he made sure that the way out was clear, ran back to guide Hotch to get Lois into the car they'd come in. Hotch put her into the backseat, careful not to hurt her more, and Varric climbed into the passenger seat.

"I guess we could make sure I don't bleed to death first," she said, a bit too loopy to smirk. Once she was in the back seat, her eyes closed. Being tied to a wall wasn't exactly the most restful environment. She fell asleep quickly, barely waking up for the healing. Anders was able to heal her, and assured Varric that Lois needed the rest.

The next time she woke up, she was in a now-familiar gaudily silken room. "Varric?"

Lois turned, smiling a little when she saw Varric. "Hey." His grin was good to see. "Were you watching me sleep, like some creepy teenage vampire?" She offered a weak smirk, knowing he probably wouldn't get the reference and not really caring. She rolled into him when he laid down, putting her chin on his shoulder and cuddling up. She was having a hard time wrapping her head around everything, but being with Varric was a relief.

	"Hey," he smiled back. "I have no idea what you mean, but I was mostly just making sure you were still alive. I was worried." He stroked her cheek as they cuddled, closing his eyes. She felt shaky, and was glad she hadn't tried sitting up. She didn't want to tell Varric not to open up to her, but seeing him worried was hard. It scared her a little. She could just pretend she was fine, but not with him acting like that. She bit down on her lower lip.

"I'm just glad to have a hero that isn't afraid to show his face," she said quietly. She was done with the Blur, she decided.

"Varric, I.." She froze up a bit; she really didn't want to do this. Normally, she'd be ready to write the story, but not this time. "This isn't a normal guy you can just send the police after. He can shoot fire from his eyes. And he's really strong." She wasn't sure how you stopped someone like this, but she knew more people would get hurt if she just handed over a name.

	He blinked, eyes wide. "I'll be sure to let Lawman know this is kind of out of his normal scope." He pulled her closer, petting her hair. "Shh. Nobody's going after anyone right now. His surprise was just a little amusing to her, in that morbid sort of way. "If he'd been just a normal guy, you know I would've handed his ass to him."

She cringed a little at being coddled, but didn't say anything right now. She really wasn't sure what she wanted. "Shoulder seems better. Kind of afraid to look at my knee, but nothing's throbbing." Seemed like Varric's friend did a pretty good job.

	She was about to say something about Esmerelda bringing her pancakes, but then Varric ran his hand down her thigh. She didn't cringe away from that, which was a very good sign. She kissed him back, relaxing. She wasn't okay, and they both knew it. But she wasn't opposed to him getting her mind off things. (Reply to this) (Parent)
