"They did indeed," he agreed seriously. He was curious but had enough tact to know not to pry, and left it at that, returning to the main subject. "Here's the thing. I liked being a Grey Warden. I liked it a lot. For the most part we were presented with clear problems. Darkspawn are evil, get rid of the darkspawn, have a party when you've succeeded. It was work that needed doing and I was good at it." He scratched at his forehead. "I miss having work that actually makes a difference, you know? My current job is...well, I guess in theory it's good that lifeguards exist, but to me it feels a bit like a joke."
