Who: Crane and Bianca
Where: A coffee shop.
What: They get together to chat about horrific death. Fun times!
Warnings: Swearing, otherwise TBA.

Jonathan met Bianca at the address she'd specified as quickly as he could get there. It was, thankfully, relatively close to his apartment, which made his life a great deal easier. He hated using those portkey things, useful as they might be for instantaneous travel. They made him sick, to be honest.

He'd written the address down on a scrap of paper and put it in his pocket, but it was obvious which place she meant by the time he got to the right block, since it was the only coffee shop on the street that wasn't part of one franchise or other. He straightened his tie, walked in, and scanned the room for Bianca.

It would probably be obvious who Bianca was once he stepped into the coffee shop. She was sitting alone, sipping her coffee ... and most of the people around her looked nervous.

She glanced up when she spotted Jonathan and nodded subtly to the seat across from her. This would be ... interesting.

He picked her out of the crowd and walked over, noting the general atmosphere of unease around her. Interesting. He sat down across from her and smiled faintly. "And you must be Bianca. A pleasure."

"Really now." Well, to be fair ... she hadn't shot him. That was considerably nicer than she'd been to the last man she'd met.

"That can only make you Jonathan."

"It does indeed," he said, glancing around to the people at the other tables. "I can't help but wonder what you've done to make everyone here look this way as though there's a time bomb between us."

She might've snapped at the man who brought her coffee because it was cold, but fuck, how hard was it to make warm coffee?

Bianca arched a brow. "Just my charming personality at work, Crane."

"Ah. Of course." The waiter had perfect timing, choosing just that moment to show up at their table. He seemed to be purposefully avoiding looking over at Bianca. "Black coffee, please, a large." The man scurried away, his eyes going directly from Jonathan to the floor.

"Well, this place does have excellent service. I can say that much for it." His tone was so level that it was hard to tell whether or not he'd just figured out the reason the waiter looked so nervous or if he just liked service that didn't talk.

She licked her lips. "I think that if you lunge at him he might drop the hot coffee on himself," she remarked with an arch of her brow, "If you're into that sort of thing." Personally, Bianca just wanted to scare people.

Killing them ... well, she didn't like to do that unless she had to. She'd done enough of that before.

He glanced over at the skittish waiter again, smiling slightly. "I'm tempted, but I'll refrain for now. Better to wait until he's become complacent."

"The element of surprise is tempting." But she'd always been a bit impatient as far as that sort of thing when she could allow herself to be.

"Hence the reason that it's persevered throughout the ages as a useful strategy." He leaned back in his chair. "But maybe not today. I appear to have been given enough of a bad reputation without helping it along."

And that makes Bianca smirk. "Well, you know ... I like to think that if people are going to be making rash decisions like that I might at least give them a reason to dislike me."

That is, in fact, what's she's done.

He held up a finger. "Ah, but I'm making a vague attempt to be respectable," he said. "If I want a job and a comfortable place from which to conduct my...business I have to keep up a pleasant public front."

She smirked a little. "Right, right. You have that 'acceptable front' to put up. I suppose because they shoved me into a figureskating job they knew that coaches were generally scary, sarcastic bitches."
