Lilo Pelekai is a disciple of The King. ([info]means_family) wrote in [info]utr_logs,
She and Gabe had taken a day before the day they were going to get married to get aclimated to things and do some sightseeing. Lilo hadn't really liked gambling much, though pretending that evil government operatives were going to assassinate people based on their assigned numbers (that matched the roulette table, of course) made things a bit more fun.

But for the time being, they were strolling hand in hand down the strip, Lilo wearing the tiniest shorts and t-shirt she could get away with. Stupid deserts, the heat made no sense there. It sucked out all her moisture and made her want to lay in front of a fan with a glass of water, dousing herself. Though she figured that was probably how frogs felt sometimes, and this was a learning experience. She would have thought about that more when she saw a familiar brown coat and messy crop of hair she hadn't seen since she was six years old, in a hotel in the middle of a desert kind of like Las Vegas, just without the people.

Her heart stopped for two beats, one for each of his. She let go of Gabe's hand, running for him, wrapping her arms around his neck and crying. She hadn't even realized she'd missed him until she saw him again.
