Sirius might be a slacker, but he was still a Gryffindor. Bravery and nobility, and all that. Sirius wasn't taking on every beast head-to-head, or anything, but he went out with his wand in hand. He'd killed a few trolls and one ogre, saving small groups of people and helping others who were struggling with fighting things that were too big for them to handle.

One damsel had been particularly grateful, which was just a nice little bonus. He'd been careful not to burn himself out by taking on too many things at once, and was currently taking a break. It was important to stay hydrated.

He was leaning against a brick building when he heard a scream. He straightened up and headed toward the sound of distress.

	A skeleton was pounding on the lid of the Dumpster where she'd taken refuge, and Emily was holding onto it to keep it shut with all of her might. She couldn't help but scream, though it was partly in frustration. (Reply to this) (Thread)

"Reducto!" Sirius yelled triumphantly, pointing his wand at the skeleton. The skeleton was blasted back several feet before its bones flew off in different directions. Pretty neat trick. Too bad the screamer in the dumpster hadn't seen it.

With a flick of his wrist, he cast a second spell to fling open the dumpster's lid. "You're safe, fair maiden or effeminate sounding gentleman!"

	"So you've been there for two days? You could've called me, Steve. Would've come and gotten you." He noted the way she was clinging to him, but didn't comment. "What?" Sirius was genuinely taken aback. For all his flaws, Sirius was fiercely loyal, and would go through hell and high water for his friends. He would literally die for any of the Marauders, and while Emily hadn't quite made it to that level, he'd sacrifice at least a hand for her...Maybe up to the elbow. Picking her up from the library was nothing. "Yes, I would," he said, his tone earnest.

"Yeah. We'll get you home." He frowned, wondering briefly if something else had happened to make her this frightened. Skeletons weren't that scary, were they? "Heard from your Dad?"

	"Okay, well, let's had back to your place." He started walking toward the nearest portkey. He wasn't sure where her house was, so hopefully she would be able to unattach her face from him long enough to take care of that. He wrapped an arm around her waist to help her walk. 	Sirius squirmed a bit, wanting to peel her off of him. Or at least have her not quite so tight. Women were crazy. "Okay. Okay, back to the flat." "Right, well.. It's not far." Of course, Emily knew exactly how far it was. It's not like he was taking some obscure route to a place she'd never been before. He was just at a loss for things to say.

He saw a bugbear cub across the street, but it hadn't seemed to notice them. If it didn't attack them, Sirius wasn't going to go out of his way to get its attention. Not with Emily, at least. "Come on," he said, lowering her voice. He sort of lifted her a bit, transferring more of her weight onto him and picking up the pace. He wasn't carrying her, but he was trying to make it easier for them to escape unseen.

He frowned, noticing the difficulties she was having. Seemed like more than a little scratch. He sighed, realizing they weren't going to get very far at this rate. The bear had lifted his head and started to sniff at the air. "Hold on," Sirius told her before scooping her up into his arms to carry her. He wasn't a bodybuilder, and probably couldn't run while he was carrying her, but he could move faster than he could with her on her feet.

	He took them down a side street, keeping up a good pace for about a block before looking over his shoulder and making sure that they weren't being followed. "When that guy says I need to lose weight, sure." She'd been about to shrug off his arm, but she knew she needed it or it would take forever for them to get to the apartment.

And with his help, it did go faster; soon they were inside the door. They were high up enough where she felt much safer. Limping to the kitchen, she rolled up the leg of her jeans and winced when she saw inside her wound. It was still bleeding heavily, and she wasn't excited about the idea of trying to stitch it. If she hadn't been around her father as much as she had, she would've fainted.

Sirius shut the door and actually used the deadbolt, probably for the first time since he'd been there. He glanced quickly around the place before heading back to Emily and catching a glimpse of her leg.

"Merlin, that's bad." He slid a chair behind her for her to sit on. If he tried any healing spells, he would probably make things worse. It didn't work like in video games. They might have some supplies, though. He opened a cabinet, pushing around some jars and looking for something. "Sit," he said, his back to her, anticipating her to argue.

Finally he pulled out a short, wide jar with something dark green inside. "This is going to smell awful," he warned her.

	She sat down without being told twice, wincing and putting her leg up in an attempt to slow the bleeding and reduce the swelling on her ankle and knee. "Smell awful? It's not going to sting?" "Oh, it'll probably sting, too. But the smell will be worse."

With any other woman, Sirius would've turned the charm up to eleven, and probably would've made her take off her pants to 'get a better look' at the wound. With Emily, he just rolled his eyes. "You've got me. In fact, 'Stop bleeding on my rug' is one of my favorite pick-up lines. Works every time."

He opened the jar, and the accompanying stench proved that he hadn't been lying. The substance was thick and sticky. He used a wooden spoon to stir it once before applying it to her leg.

"Technicalities." It took a little while, but he finished with her leg and closed the jar, sitting back on the floor. "Would you stop it? You've probably said that twenty times already. Told you, it's nothing. Just bake me cookies later and we'll call it even." He was a little uncomfortable with the mushy stuff.

He dropped his phone in her lap. "You need to call your dad. Moony's at Taunton, helping out there, so don't worry about him."

	Before taking the phone, she leaned over and wrapped her arms around his neck before kissing him. Granted, it was on the cheek, but still, it was more physical contact than she'd given him without hitting him. After letting him go, she dialed her father. "Daddy?" He walked out of the room, giving her privacy for her phone call. "Emily? Where are you? I've been trying to call. Are you all right?" Cal sounded frantic and angry. There was a moment of silence where Cal's scowl could practically come across over the phone lines. Those bloody wizards had actually come in useful. He should be happier about that than he was. "I'm fine. I'm at home. Nothing's got in."

Whether or not to have her come home. Wizards might make pretty good protectors. Of course, those wizards were also teenage boys, and he didn't trust that, not at all.

"I don't know what you're talking about. You're delirious." He shoved his phone in his pocket and went to grab his jacket. "If you don't think you can manage the motorcycle, we could 'hotwire' a car," he said, gesturing with his wand. "But I warn you I have no knowledge or regard for this country or any others' traffic laws." It sounded like something he'd heard Moony say one too many times, probably in a panicked, screaming voice.

	Sirius chuckled a little. "Duly noted." He was pretty good on the bike. He pulled on the leather jacket that was pretty much required for the motorcycle look.
