Who: John Blackfeather and Quorra
Where: London, then Frisco
When: Evening London/Afternoon San Fran
What: Going to the beach!
Warnings: Probably none?

Quorra had tugged on a jacket and made sure that Bit had food before she left, pocketing her keys and walking to the intersection where, according to the listing on the website, there was a portkey to San Fransisco. She was a little worried, after all, she'd been told that 'home' wouldn't be the same. Which was why she was only going near home, but not to the exact place. The same state was close enough, and the ocean would be a little comfort, even if it wasn't the same as the Sea of Simulation.

She perched herself on a bench to wait for John, not minding the chill in the air at all.

Overhead, there would be a loud flapping noise, almost as if there were a great number of birds. But there was a man attached to the wings, a man who was barefoot and holding his shoes, trying to land carefully next to the bench. A shower of glitter preceeded his landing, and he laughed as he hopped a bit on his landing. "Sorry, I'm a bit clumsy, still getting myself used to being this size again."

She blinked at the glitter, reminded unpleasantly of home, since it was like the pixels left over when someone de-rezzed, or like the litter left behind by a swarm of grid-bugs.

She smiled however, shaking off the unease, since he seemed fine, "It's alright. Do you change size a lot?"

"Not usually, it seems like once a year or so. I was a baby an hour or two ago." He shrugged a little. "My grandfather on my bio dad's side is a thunderbird god, and my bio dad is a god, so yeah, half fairy half god means I can probably do all sorts of horrible stuff." He smiled right back at her. "Are you ready? If you want to do some deep breathing or something, I can help!"

"oh! That makes more sense." She nodded, because, really, it was as good an explanation as any.

She shrugged at the question though, "Probably better if I just go for it." She said, unfolding to her feet once more and offering him a hand, "Ready when you are."

He took her hand and squeezed it in what he hoped was a reassuring way. "We'll be fine, I've done it many times before." He guided her to the poster that was worn and weathered. Nobody gave it a second thought unless they were specifically looking for it. He reached out and tapped it with his hand.

He was more used to portkeys than most, but he still wrinkled his nose as he waited for his guts to settle.

Her assumption had been right, it really wasn't that much worse than the digitizing laser, only, instead of instantly being able to connect again because she was home, she was instead made unpleasantly aware that she did, in fact, still have insides.

She shook herself after a moment, taking a deep breath, seeming to settle a little thanks to the sea air, "Okay. Not that bad."

He rubbed her back a little bit, in what he assumed was a soothing way. "Okay?" He smiled a little at her before smiling and looking at the ocean. "This is ... really nice. Do you swim? I'm okay at it."

"I haven't been swimming in ... in a very long time." She smiled, it was just a little wistful, "The water where I'm from isn't good for it, too polluted." It was the easiest way to explain it, really, without having to go into the whole story about the ISOs and the virus and everything.

"I still go there sometimes to think though, and to meditate."

"We could go swimming now, if you wanted?" He smiled at her before starting to bounce toward the sand. "I'll go get you a bathing suit if you need me to." He beamed at her, thinking she was an awful lot like a ray of sunshine.

She actually laughed then, "The water's too cold!" Not that it would really bother her that much, but she figured it might bother him, "And besides, it's going to rain again any minute." Also, not something that would really bother her that much.

"So?" He grinned and bounced a little, obviously his mother's son. "Come on, pleaaaaase?" He sulked and fluttered his eyelashes, the clouds above them starting to shift.

And yes, it did start to rain, albeit a warm rain filled with glitter. "Oh, darn," he mumbled. "Sorry, that's my fault."

She was a little surprised by the cloudburst, and more surprised by the glitter, but it made her smile all the same, thinking that if it ever rained on the Grid, that's what it would look like, "Okay. Swimming, I do need a suit first though, and I'm sure there's somewhere around here that sells them."

"Me too, and I'm sure, we're by the beach." He was getting distracted, which helped clear up the rain. The clouds soon parted but the glitter remained in his hair. He shook his head, sending a bit of it her way. "Sorry again. My mom's a fairy, the glitter kind of comes from her side. If you ever met her, yeah, she's worse than me."

"I haven't met a lot of people yet, but I'm working on it." She said, still smiling, she didn't mind the glitter at all, really. She turned to scan the nearest row of shops, finally pointing, "That one looks about right."

"Okay." He grinned and walked with her, ignoring the looks he got from people as he went in. Yes. He was a guy covered in glitter with a pretty girl also covered in glitter. But what did it matter?

He found a pair of board shorts in his size and waited for Quorra to pick hers out. He'd pay for it.

She was glad that she'd already worked out shopping before she'd been sucked up by a vortex, otherwise this would be even more confusing than usual.

It didn't take her more than a few minutes to find something that would fit, "Okay. Fastest shopping trip ever."

He yoinked it from her hands and laughed a faux-menacing laugh, taking the items to the counter and paying for them. Once rung up, he handed her the suit again and pointed at the changing rooms. "See you in a minute!"

She blinked twice, "Oh, uhm, thank you?" She did snag it back again, scampering off to the changing room, emerging again with her suit and her jeans back on, and her shirt and jacket over her arm, "And done!"

He padded out in just his board shorts, his other clothes in the bag he'd been given with their swim outfits. "Okay, all set! Let's freeze ourselves!" He gave her a mock salute and beamed.

Another laugh, shaking her head and going back outside, tilting her head up into the brief sunlight, kicking off her shoes on the boardwalk before stepping down into the sand, surprised to find that even though it was damp and clingy, it was still warm.

John fluttered off of the ground for a moment before jumping into the water, giggling and splashing a bit. "Okay, it's a bit cold, but nothing we won't get used to."

Quorra, for her part, just dashed down the shore to where the next swell would be somewhere around knee-high, grinning again, it really wasn't that cold, all in all, but the threat of rain had cleared the beach almost completely.

John was beaming, and he looked around, noticing that nobody was on the beach. That worked for him, and he let his wings emerge for a moment, allowing the sea water to clean them off.

Quorra kept edging further and further out into the water, laughing as the receding waves pulled the sand out from under her feet, just enjoying the draw of the water itself.

It was almost, almost like home, but different enough that it didn't make her homesick.
