After Lulu and the boys had left, Gabe turned around back to Lilo at the table. "You. You and I need to talk." He sat down at the chair next to her, a hand resting on her back. "What'd you think of having the little ones around? You okay?" She looked fine, but watching the movie had to have been difficult for her.

Shit. He felt like a total heel now. He wrapped his arms around her, his chin resting at the top of her head. "I am so the baby. And I'm not going anywhere if I can help it." He kissed her forehead, figuring his next statement would be sappy as shit no matter how he phrased it. "You gotta trust me that I'll be here for you whenever it's possible. And it's possible unless the world goes fucky. But I mean." He searched for words. "Why wait around sure that the world's gonna take me away or take you away? It wastes the time we've got."
