Guilt was something new for Morrigan. She'd done plenty of underhanded things in her day, but she'd never felt this badly afterward. Even the relief when Brother's eyes opened didn't help, and his smile only cut that much deeper. She shook her head, blinking away tears. "I'm not. I'm not wonderful. Don't say that, please."
"You shouldn't have gone. I.." She wasn't worth that kind of devotion. She stroked Brother's cheek, cool healing magic on her hand. He would still feel weak. "You need to eat something. Build your strength." She couldn't tell him now. She couldn't hurt him like that, not right after what he'd gone through.
