Who: Iku and Ariel
What: They've found a place, now is the reckoning! AKA, packing up Iku's place, lunch, possible distractions.
Where: London, England
When: Weekend-ish
Warnings: Possible!

Looking over the stack of flat boxes at the door, Ikuko was daunted. Half of this stuff wasn't even anything she had personally gotten for her place, but it was all so nice! If she only packed up what she'd bought, and not what she had inherited when she dropped into this world, she'd still have a great deal of books, clothes, kitchen appliances, and wall decorations to bring to Paris. She sighed heavily. Ariel would bring some levity into the situation when he arrived, she figured. Not to seem unmotivated, she did pack up a couple of boxes of books, and had gone through papers to see which she wanted to keep and which could be recycled. It was the papers that started her in on feeling overwhelmed, though. So many of them were important! But all the mess!

She flopped down on the couch and ran her hands delicately over the long fibers of the rug beneath the sofa and coffee table. This was just so much work!

Ariel popped into her flat directly from his duties, looking a bit tired and worn. Still, he'd been of help, and that always cheered him. "Hello, my dear." He sat down and kissed her, smiling. "Have you not begun your packing, yet?" The thought of setting up in Paris was exhilarating, frankly; the woman he loved being his flatmate was the icing on the cake. Still. This was ... quite a lot of things.

When he arrived, she sat up just enough to give him room to sit and to kiss him, before flopping across his lap, "Two boxes are packed," she said as she motioned in their vague direction, "I don't know if I want half the stuff here. I am not attached to most of it, it's only what I inherited. But it'd be a shame to just leave it."

She looked over her shoulder and up at him. "And what I do want, it's hard to sort through what's important, and what isn't. I'm not good at picking up and going, even if it's only been a few months. At least it's with someone I love dearly, someone who makes home wherever he is."

"Flatterer." Ariel smiled, stroking her hair. "No, I understand about the things that were left here. Perhaps we can give some of them to charity, or sell them to specialized places? Bookshops or furniture shops? There's no need to take everything; I doubt everything would fit." He shook his head. They'd found a beautiful flat, almost an entire floor's worth of room for a surprisingly painless price, but nonetheless, there were limits.

"Mm, before long, most of the space will be bookshelves," she said teasingly, though it did sound rather cozy. She sat up and burrowed against his chest and shoulder, smiling at the thought of sending the items off to be loved by others. "Hn," she murmured, "we could give it to papa, to see if anyone needs new things down there. A lot of the coast was affected, so any little bit could help people rebuild. Property damage isn't just buildings, it's furniture and items, too."

"Of course." Ariel nodded. "I think all of those ideas are excellent." He rested his hand on her hip when she shifted up against him. "So many of those things can have a better use than gathering dust in Paris. I should likely do the same; it's not entirely fair for me to take all my things and have you give up some."

"I'm only planning to keep what I bought," she assured, "but if you feel the need to lighten your own load of things, I cannot stop you. I like what you've got, you know that." It suited him, and her tastes. What she had in way of furniture for the most part seemed just too modern looking to be in such a pretty, historic flat like the one they'd found. "Ah, I believe you should keep your furniture, so long as I can decorate the walls. It will be home for both of us that way."

"I do want to get rid of some things, if only to cast them off" - it was rather metaphorical - "but I think that's a perfectly acceptable compromise." He hadn't stopped stroking her hair, liking the way it felt. "My things are sufficiently old to suit the place? And I know you're fond of my bed." She'd said so more than once, and it was somehow charming. "Just think, you'll actually have days where you can luxuriate in the blankets all day, and never have to leave them." He kissed her lightly, because he could.

"Mm, your bed's cozier than mine," she agreed. Maybe it was because he was always in there with her, when she was in his bed. She pondered things a moment and then laughed, "Only if you'll be there with me. There's no reason to dawdle in bed unless it's completely comfortable, and it wouldn't be completely comfortable without someone warm beside me. I suppose we could adopt a puppy, they're warm and loyal, just like you. Hmm, but not ones for witty banter." Her eyes glimmered as she got an impish smile and kissed him on the cheek, "I prefer my loyal angel, though. At least he doesn't smell awful when he comes in from the rain! Are you hungry, Ari? I need to finish what's left over in my kitchen before we move."

"Certainly, I could eat." He'd become rather fond of Japanese foods, and he knew she stocked quite a few of them. Then again, he wouldn't turn down something as English as sausage and peppers. "Allow me to do my part in making it easier for you to move, my dear." He rose. "Shall I get you anything?" Why not let her stay seated and relaxed while they still had time.
