Mia glanced sideways at Lightman, noticing he hadn't turned around. She had half a mind to side-step so that she was between him and Donavette. Instead she focused on crowd control. Most people hadn't noticed the commotion, but a small group of guys were leaning in, trying to get a look. "Move along, asshole," Mia snarled at the closest, glaring.
That got Cal's attention. He did enjoy antagonizing shareholders, but he usually preferred a more subtle approach. "Absolutely," he assured Eli before walking away from them. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen," he said loudly, making his way toward the little stage at the front of the room. He kept talking, effectively getting everyone's attention. He had no speech prepared, had no idea if he was even supposed to give a speech tonight, but he could fake it, pull out one of the old standards.
Donavette had no idea she could turn into a cat until about a half hour ago, she certainly didn't know how to do it at will. She couldn't even focus enough to respond to him telepathically. She shook her head, still panicked.
