Mephistopheles ([info]feedsmycontempt) wrote in [info]utr_logs,
No, it was a perfectly rational confusion that the human expressed, and Mephisto understood. "For your kind, there is no sin too great. Redemption comes easily to God's favored creatures. The Creator sees humans as her golden children - creatures that can do wrong, but innocently. We, God's first creations, need but go against our very natures to suffer eternal exile. To put a fine point on it, I did not love your kind as God commanded we all do, so I became persona non grata in all of creation. I'm not the only one."

He faced the window as a car drove by the shop, following its sound. "All things considered, your kind has an easy existence. Infinite chances to redeem your soul from damnation, the loophole of ignorance, your mortality, and God's favor." All those things were very well and good, but still, Hell was always gaining new arrivals. It spoke greatly of humanity's stupidity and apathy.
