Eli groaned grumpily when the alarm went off a few hours later. He rolled over to grab his phone, pressing a few buttons until it dialed his office. He moved to kiss Mia on the cheek, wanting to avoid morning breath disgustingness, but wanting to be close to her.
"Yes, it's Doctor Loker. I won't be coming in today. No. My girlfriend was in a car accident and broke her wrist. I'd like to take care of her today." He sighed, closing his eyes. "Donavette is more than capable of proofreading, and I don't have any appointments today. I'll look over some files from here. I might still do work, I just won't be coming in. Excellent. Thanks." He hung up the phone, smiling, glad that had worked out; his supervisor had agreed that one day wouldn't put them too far behind if he could just do some work on a couple of the cases that were demanding their attention most loudly.
