The Half Moon
Who: Tess and Ryan Lucas
Where: The Half Moon pub in London
When: Today
What: Probably getting drunk for starters
Warnings: With Tess, anything is possible.

Tess had told Ryan she would wait for him outside of the pub and so she did, glad that, if she had to show up randomly in London, at least it had happened during the summer. True, it was only about 61 degrees but to a girl born and bred in New York City and surviving several winters there, that was fine. While she was waiting, she leaned against the wall and people-watched, one of her favorite activities while there was nothing else to do.

The pub turned out to be fairly easy to find, something he was grateful for. Dressed in jeans, shirt, and a leather jacket, he was comfortable for the weather. Hitching the knapsack that he'd found with him higher on his shoulder searched those around and near the pub for someone who fit Tess's description.

Smiling when he thought he spotted her, he approached the woman leaning against the wall. "Spot anyone of interest?"

Ryan also took stock of their surroundings and the other people in the bar, but it was more a subconscious act that he didn't fully realize he was doing. Subconsciously as well he was leading them to a table that had a good view of the entire bar, yet one that was easily defensible, and had access to multiple exits.

With a raised eyebrow he gave her an unsure look, at first wondering if she was pulling his leg, then realizing she wasn't he chuckled. "Right then! No wagers or drinking contests against you. Whiskey shots with a beer chaser sounds like a good idea to me though."

Tess approved of the location, though of course she had no idea that he was just as vigilant as she, even though she had felt no other Immortal presence when they entered. But you never knew who could come in.

"Yeah, it does." Of course she didn't intend to get as wasted as she had the first day she was here when she'd chugged almost a whole bottle of whiskey by herself. She leaned back in her chair. "I wish to hell we could still smoke in here though."

Ryan had no idea if he was a smoker or not, yet oddly he knew it was illegal to smoke in bars and restaurants, he just didn't know how he knew that.

"Ever think about quitting?" He asked casually.

The waitress approached their table and he ordered a bottle of whiskey, shot glasses, and a couple bottles of beer. Ryan then looked to Tess to see if there was anything else she'd like.

	She shook her head and turned her attention to Ryan. Of course she couldn't tell him that she didn't really need to quit because it wasn't going to kill her, but that she probably should quit because it was better for her dancing. "Oh god, don't say that. Smoking I think I could do without. Drinking, not so much." She paused. "I don't want to sound like I'm an alcoholic. I'm not, I just... hold my liquor very, very well. Have for a long time, since I was a kid. A teenage kid, I mean," she added hastily. "But I didn't really party like a lot of other kids. I was too busy learning to be a dancer." And an Immortal.

"I've had my moments," she said with a smile, thinking of the 80's. "I do modern dancing, mostly. I was trained in some ballet when I was a girl but frankly I'm just too tall for it. No one could lift me unless they were Andre the Giant. I don't know what's going to happen now, where no one knows me. I guess my career is pretty much shot for the time being." A shadow passed over her face as a small measure of grief and anger shot through her, but she tried to banish it right away. "What do you do? Or, what did you do?"

"Why is that? Can you not audition for parts?" He can see how much her career meant to her. "How did you get started before?"

Frowning at her question he thinks back to the very short time he remembers of his past life before the vortex stole him away. A gun and lots of money, similar to what he has now but then he didn't have a wallet to even find out what his name had been. Not much to go on and he's not happy with the things that come to mind when he considers it. Too many questions and no way to find out the answers.

Momentarily looking lost he tries to brush it off with a shrug and gives her an unsure smile. "It doesn't matter, I guess. I think I need to make a fresh start here. Forget the past and just move forward."

Tess got the hint and nodded. "You're probably right, but I don't think it will be that easy for me. I liked my life. It wasn't perfect, but I was in a good place, and one that I fought hard to get to. Just to have it ripped away like that..." She stopped, realising that she was getting riled up. "I can audition. I did start before that way but now... it's like starting at the beginning again."

She looked up as the waiter returned with their booze. "Oh, thank God."

"I'm sorry," Ryan said with a nod. It wasn't that he was apologizing, but he felt for her. "I guess it is. Starting from scratch in a sense and all that you've already done doesn't mean anything here."

He thanked the waiter before pouring the whiskey into the two shot glasses. "Not really much for toasts but here's hoping this new life is somehow more than the last."
