Eliot heard the floor creek as Candy came into the room, and then the gasp. He looked up, brow arched. His glasses had dropped down his nose enough that he could look over the top of the lens to look at her. "Something wrong?" he asked, folding the newspaper down the way people often do, when talking to someone. He wasn't quite ready to set the paper aside.
