Who: Sor Skwigelf and Cassie Turner.
What: Sor is looking for Cassie.
When: Tuesday afternoon.
Where: Here, there, and mostly Mordhaus.
Warnings: Swearing, probably.

Sor had checked at Aunt Teague and Aunt Brenda's first, but he knew he wouldn't find anything there. He'd told his mother and Toki what he was doing, and hopped portkeys for a while, checking skate parks, their old hangouts, anywhere he might expect to find his best friend. Well. What he hoped was his best friend.

Eventually he found himself wandering through Mordhaus, sighing and sitting down on a couch to text the boy. where are you. idiot youre scaring everyone.

Cassie, in the meanwhile, had found a dark, mostly deserted part of Mordhaus to live in for a while. He'd told his mom and dad not to tell Sor, or the big-them where he was, and as it stood, he wasn't planning on going anywhere for a long, long time. He figured the best place to hide was the one place he knew people wouldn't ever think him to go, and that was where Tej always was.

He was currently curled up in the unused recording studio that was across the hall from his room when he got the text, and he sighed, looking at the words but not completely internalizing their meaning. He set the phone down and contemplated not replying, and eyed the guitars in the recording booth. He could just practice playing. Or he could just stay where he was.

Staying where he was sounded preferable. But he texted back.

It doesn't matter.

Yes it does.

He continued to look, long after his legs had gotten tired and he wanted a drink. This was important. He could wait to have some water. It was only at times like this did he realize how big Mordhaus was.

He went into every room, regardless of if he thought Cassie would be there. It took him an hour to get to the recording studio Cassie was hiding in, but he blinked when he saw blond hair. "Hi."

It was obvious that Cassie had been crying, his eyes were red and puffy and he was incredibly pale, besides. He looked weaker than usual, and curled up against the corner of the couch, he leaned against it for support.

"Go away, please," stuttered Cassie, not making eye contact. He didn't need to have Sor see him like this. It took him too much energy just to sit up a little more so he didn't look as exhausted and hungry as he was.

"No," Sor murmured, already texting for a Klokateer to bring them some food and water and leave it by the door. "I'm hungry and thirsty, I've been walking around looking for you for a while." His voice was quiet, and sadder than usual. He didn't know what to say - he wasn't good with words during things like this. So instead, he sat down by Cassie, but not too close, not looking at him.

"Fine..." Cassie muttered, moving his feet to the floor. "I'm sorry. I don't belong here. I'll go."

He couldn't wish any harder to just be taken away by the Vortex. He knew he wasn't wanted or needed. They already had a Cassidy Turner, and that one was obviously better. He never lost his best friend.

He stood up and walked to the door, going across the room, where he had a bag of his things.

Sor's voice was angry and scared, and as such, it cracked. "Stay!" He found his hands balling into fists, and he banged one on the nearest stationary thing, an amp, not noticing when he dented it slightly. "You do belong here, Cassie, you're - " He sighed. "It's my fault, you know, and I suck, but I'm still your friend if you'll let me."

"It doesn't matter," Cassie said in just above a whisper, "It doesn't matter, Sor. You're in the right. You don't... you're better than him. You're better than anyone. Just don't pretend I matter. I never did. Only reason I did was because of you." He grabbed his bag and started shuffling down the hall.

"Just leave me alone, okay?"

He blinked at what Cassie said, reaching out to grab him and missing. Instead, he stood up and followed him. "No. You're my friend, and I won't let you do anything stupid to yourself." He followed closely behind the blond, arms folded, watching him. "You have to eat." He knew that the older Cassidy had problems with that, and he'd be damned if he let his friend do the same.

"Just... forget I exist, okay? Stop worrying about me." He muttered and weaved around a few working Klokateers before turning the corner to the stairs, walking down them so he could get to the garden.

"No. You can't make me. And I won't do it. I don't want to." He continued walking just fast enough behind him to follow, but once they got to the garden and some grass, he jogged and tackled his friend to the ground, pinning him. "You listen! We're going to stay right here, just like this, until you stop being stupid."

Cassie refused to make eye contact, even after he was on the ground and pinned. "I'm dead already, Sor. Leave me alone."

Sor continued to pin him. "Stop being so melodramatic, Cassie. I don't want to sit like this for a week, but I'll do it." He narrowed his eyes at his friend and settled a little more heavily. "I'm not sorry that I did what I did. I'm sorry you're upset and think I won't be your friend."

It was only the truth as far as Cassie knew, whatever he knew was torn down around him and he had absolutely nothing to go on. All he ever knew was Soren was his best friend, the one he was supposed to be with forever, and the person who had most confidence in him. But now that Sor had gone away, there was nothing to let him have any much-needed perspective. There was no levity.

He'd decided that if there wasn't that, there wasn't a reason to even be who he was. Who he was before had no bearing on who he would be, or what he wanted. "I don't want to be your friend anymore, Sor. You took our friendship with you. You took who I was before with you, and you can keep it all you want, but you need to know that I'm dead now. That me is gone. Forever. Call it melodrama, fine. But I'm not your friend. I'm not yours anymore."

He locked gazes with Sor then, and leveled his voice, attempting to speak as best he could without a stutter.

"Now let me go and leave me alone. And tell big-me to stop calling me, too. I'm done."

Sor didn't really know what to do in this situation. Sure, he'd known he was changing everything that the two of them had planned, but he figured Cassie would have changed with it. He didn't expect him to be a wuss and refuse to change, just lay down and say his life was over.

"Yeah, you're going to have to change. You would have had to anyway. And no, I'm not going to tell big-you to do that. He cares about you more than anyone except your dad and you being an asshole to him is just fucking stupid. We're not moving until you figure out you have to move on. I want to come with you, or you can just tell me to fuck off, whatever, but I want you to stop this pussy shit."

"Just leave me alone!" Cassie yelled, pulling his hands away and pushing Sor as much as he could. He was stronger by Sor, usually, but not eating all day had made his muscles ache and groan with trying to overpower the younger boy on top of him. It was that pain that made a part of his mind switch into a mode that, while it was a bright hot fire, it burned quickly.

"I hate you!" He spat, and finally managed to push Sor off him, and he threw a punch to Sor's eye. "Why do you even care anymore? You shouldn't care! You didn't like me enough to stay with me, why do you wanna stay my friend? Go away! Fuck off! Leave me alone! S'far as I care, you're dead, too. You and him can both die and I'll piss on your grave!" Throwing another punch to Sor's jaw, he moved away and picked up his bag, running to the portkey. "Fuck you, Sor!" He yelled to the other boy and kicked the post, transporting him somewhere where he knew Sor wouldn't ever look for him.

He went to his big-self's apartment.

Sor had wanted to throw another punch, but then Cassie was running and had already slipped through the portkey. He had no idea where he'd gone, so he went back to the person who'd alerted him to the whole problem to begin with.

Instead of just going inside, he knocked on Cass' door, shuffling from foot to foot, wondering how to say that Cassie wanted to die.

Cass was still needing a cane at that point, so he grabbed it and walked to the door, opening it wide to see Sor there. With fresh bruises. "I take it you found Cassie," He murmured as he immediately dropped to his good knee to hug Sor, before motioning for Sor to follow him in so he could go grab an ice pack for Sor's eye, and some pudding.

Once he put the ice pack together for Sor, and handed it to him, with a bowl of pudding and a spoon, he spoke again. "Want to tell me about it?"

Sor followed him, but only because his stomach was rumbling. The bruises didn't bother him - he really didn't notice them that much, he'd always hurt himself when he was mad, so it was par for the course. As soon as he'd gotten teeth he'd bit his lips and cheeks bloody to keep from crying, and as soon as he'd learned how to cast, he'd burned himself to keep calm. Bruises from fighting weren't anything to fuss over, in his opinion.

But pudding was another story. He sat down and dug in, shrugging. "He wants to die." His voice was sadder than his actions, betraying how much he wished things were different.

Cass didn't have anything to say to that. He wished he could say or do something to make it not true, as well. "It isn't your fault," he said gently. "S'something you need to know first and foremost. I know he says that, and he may mean it when he says it, but he'll never feel that way for long." He sat down across from Sor and looked at him quietly for a moment.

"I think it's everyone's fault for assuming what was good for us would be good for the two of you. And letting the two of you think that what we had was just as important to you, as it is to us." He ran a hand through his hair and thought it through a little more before speaking again. "I'm sorry we let the two of you down, Sor."

"It's not your fault. I love Cassie too. They made me pick, and I picked Tej because Cassie's a spoiled brat." He shrugged. "Doesn't mean I love him any less, just means that he's kind of an idiot. Which makes all of this my fault. But that's okay. It usually is." He wanted to go find Tej, have him teach him how to spar. With something sharp.

Cass shook his head, "It's not your fault, Sor. But you know, it wasn't fair of either of them to make you pick. Whoever had that idea obviously wasn't thinking clearly. It's unfair, and it's cruel, and it is not your fault, because I know that you've got a big heart. It might be darkened, but it's a big heart nevertheless." He looked at Sor and stood up, patting him on the shoulder, "C'mon out to the garden, I'm going to throw knives." He smiled a little, knowing it would be a decent distraction for Sor.

"Sor, I want you to know that it's entirely possible to love both of them, to care for both of them, and to give them both the attention they need and deserve. If they argue, please kindly direct them to me. And furthermore, if Cassie is still acting spoiled over it after all this? I'll have a firm talk with him." He pulled out his throwing knives and set them next to him, as he stood out across the back yard from the target. Setting his cane against the tree nearby, he started favoring his right side as he threw the first knife, hitting just left of the middle of the target.

"Will you teach me?" He grinned and followed him out to the garden. "I can do something Soren can't do." He felt the piece of stone in his pocket that was warm to the touch and smoother than stone, almost like skin. "Cassie said he doesn't want you to talk to him. He's hiding from me."

"I'd be an awful teacher, Sor, but you could always ask grandpa Bill to teach you," Cass chuckled, patting the young boy on his shoulder before grabbing another knife. "In fact, he's the best at throwing knives and axes, save for any errant gods who take it up as a specialty. That's no lie," His grin slipped away when he heard Sor's second statement.

"Is he? Have you got any idea where he might be?" Cass asked, setting the knife down again. That, of course, was NOT something he was expecting.

"I want you to close your eyes and think about it. Whatever link the two of you had before will still be there, and I know you're linked because you've been that way since birth. S'like two ends of a string." He crouched down before Sor, and looked at him, with a worried, searching gaze.

"You think he would? I don't think he likes me." He sat down, running his thumb over the shard of the statute of the Fayth in his pocket, glad that it had popped into McGee's.

Shaking his head to Cass' worry, he followed his instructions. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply, like he was about to cast, and then opened his eyes in confusion. "There's a lot of glitter on the walls. It's kind of tidy even though it doesn't look like anyone really lives there."

"My apartment. You've never been there before, either. Well, at least he's safe. I'll have Soren go talk to him." With a quick mental ping to his husband, Cass made sure Soren would go check on his young counterpart.

"Listen, no matter what happens between the two of you, I will make it a priority to keep both of you safe and happy. And Sor? I want you to know that you're entirely right. He shouldn't have treated you like he did." He gave Sor a quick hug before standing back up, needing to use the tree to support him to do so. "Nobody should treat anyone like Cassie treated you. But now he's very scared. Running away from you, fighting you, and saying he wants to die, that means he's terrified."
