Who: Sonya,Alice, Charles, and Jane What: News and announcements over dinner Where: Sonya's place When: The Wednesday just before Random plot
Dinner wasn't especially fancy, but then Sonya wasn't dressed for it either. With what she was planning to show to the couple, it would require her to be neat, but comfortable as well. Dress pants and a shirt would've been too confining, so she actually put on her army issued trousers and an olive-drab t-shirt: comfortable but still presentable in its own fashion, it would also give them a hit as to what she was planning to say. Sonya hadn't worn even parts of her military clothing since the attack in December.
Truthfully, she was feeling a little twisted inside already, being unsure how they would take it. It would mean that she was finally recovering, and putting less of a strain on the couple which would be a good thing, but then she knew how much Jane loved being around Danny (who was currently on the floor banging a pot with a wooden spoon and wearing a small saucepan on his head), and wasn't entirely sure how she'd react over all with not being able to see him regulary.
The pot roast and vegetables were on the table in the dining room, which was connected to the living room where her physical therapy equipment was visible for once. As with her clothing, dinner wasn't fancy, but it smelled good, uncomplicated, and with all of the wet weather that's been going around, it was what she felt like cooking-and she did give Charles and Jane a chance to decide themselves. Alice was at the table, using a simple spell to keep the bread warm, and looking a little put out.
"Don't see why I couldn't help out besides this." She pointed at the bread.
"Because I prefer not having my stove extra crispy." Was Sonya's reply as finished cleaning up. It was less strenious to move something with sorcerery than to make something appear out of thin air, but the motions were familiar and acted as a sort of 'warm up'.
Alice only grumbled that it was only that'one time', that she set the smoke alarm off. She didn't feel it was right to complain, she was too old to whine about that, and anyway, her mother would soon get a proper job. Not in the same range as a soldier but it was within that area.
The sound of the doorbell sent Danny running ( or rather trying to run-he hadn't yet mastered that ability) towards the door, wooden spoon in hand as the pot and saucepan lay forgotten on the floor. Momma mentioned Jane and Charles's names and that meant they were coming over
"Alice!" Sonya said as she finished setting the table. "Get the door, and get your brother while you're at it." She couldn't get over the irony that her son would be able to walk and run before she could.
It was a short trip to the door before Alice answer.
